BIGOTS RUNNING RAMPANT

I met a Muslim man in Montreal recently who had been driving a taxi in New York city on Nine-Eleven. His car was just a few blocks away, caught in traffic, when he saw the Second Tower struck. Soon afterward, people were throwing rocks through his windshield. He fled to Canada.

"Terrorist!" "Bin Laden!" "Go back to your country!" came the shouts from the other car.
For shame. A national shame.
Thankfully, Inderjit Singh Mukker is recovering and the perpetrator is in custody.
Read the statement Mr. Mukker's released Wednesday:
"No American should be afraid to practice their faith in our country. I'm thankful for the swift response of authorities to apprehend the individual, but without this being fully investigated as a hate crime, we risk ignoring the horrific pattern of intolerance, abuse and violence that Sikhs and other minority communities in this country continue to face."
We could not agree more.
The incident is being investigated as a hate crime.
