BOYCOTT JAPANESE PRODUCTS - FROM FUKUSHIMA TO THE WHALES - THEY LIE

I have heartfelt sympathy for the people of Japan. They have suffered terribly because of the tsunami - and they - and the entire world - have suffered even more because of those who lied about the nuclear plants at Fukushima.

In 2011, it was reported that 40,000 Americans had already died because of the nuclear fallout from Fukushima.

The Japanese are not known for telling the truth.

They lied about the Fukushima nuclear plants being safe and people all over the world have died and will continue to die because of the radiation from Fukushima.

Now, as I write, tons of garbage from Japan are washing up on the western shores of Canada and the United States, bringing pollution and inestimable danger to all of us.

Of course, my friends who live in Sendai and people throughout Asia will suffer the greatest losses - because the authorities in Japan LIED ! I worry about their lovely, innocent children. How many will suffer cancer because the Japanese authorities told them to stay home and keep count of the radiation?

See my personal experience at -

And the Japanese are lying when they tell the world that they are killing whales for "scientific purposes" It is a bald-faced lie and anyone who knows the history of Japan will understand that it is a lie.

There is only one thing nations understand - short of war - and that is financial ruin.

You and I each have the power to do something important to save the whales.

Do not buy anything made in Japan until Japan stops killing the whales. Do not buy anything Japanese - from canned tuna to Toyota automobiles.

These wonderful, intelligent creatures have a right to live and decent people have an obligation to do everything possible to protect them.

Please boycott all Japanese products.

IS AMERICA ON THE ROAD TO CIVIL WAR ? GUN SALES SOAR - CALL ME JEREMIAH

There are more lunatics in America than are dreamed of in our philosophy.

Is the elected government of the so-called "United" States safe from those who are buying up every assault weapon and every box of ammunition available?

Try to take their assault weapons away from them and see what happens.

It seems unthinkable, but I believe America may be on the road to revolution and civil war.

Call me Jeremiah.

Florida gun sales soar over gun control fears

Central Florida dealers sell out assault weapons

December 24, 2012| By Henry Pierson Curtis, Orlando Sentinel

Assault weapons have sold out in many Central Florida gun shops following President Barack Obama's promise to make gun control a "central issue" in the wake of the Newtown elementary school massacre.

For the second time in four years, gun dealers reported daily sales matching as much a month's worth of business.

"It started as soon as the president spoke on Tuesday," said Eileen Reig, who has sold guns and taught marksmanship for 45 years at Reig's Gun Shop and Range in Orlando. "Washington has started a panic…Everybody just needs to take a deep breath and calm down and see what happens."

JUST PLAIN NASTY - THE WEST BANK SETTLERS

I won't go into the conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians. I leave that to thousands of others who debate and dispute the issues endlessly.

But I must say this.

Globetrekker on PBS reports that West Bank settlers chop down Palestinian farmers' olive trees near the settlements.

That is just plain nasty.

As a Jew and as a Christian,
And as a human being,
I declare my disgust.

ELEPHANTS - THEY LOVE, THEY GRIEVE, THEY REMEMBER - WE HAVE TO LOVE THEM

Why is it that most people feel such empathy for Elephants, even if they have never had close contact with them?

Is it because of their size, their quaint characteristics, or the the fact that they are so incredibly endearing as babies, tripping over little wobbly trunks that seem to serve no useful purpose other than get in the way?

Or is it, perhaps, because Elephants are "human" animals, encompassed by an invisible aura that reaches deep into the human soul in a mysterious and mystifying way.

Of course, Elephants share with us humans many traits - the same span of life, (three score years and ten, all being well) and they develop at a parallel pace so that at any given age a baby elephant duplicates its human counterpart, reaching adulthood at the age of twenty.

Elephants also display many of the attributes of humans as well as some of the failings. They share with us a strong sense of family and death and they feel many of the same emotions.

Each one is, of course, like us, a unique individual with its own unique personality. They can be happy or sad, volatile or placid. They display envy, jealousy, throw tantrums and are fiercely competitive, and they can develop hang-ups which are reflected in behaviour.

They also have many additional attributes we humans lack; incredible long range infrasound, communicating in voices we never hear, such sophisticated hearing that even a footfall is heard far away, and, of course they have a memory that far surpasses ours and spans a lifetime.

They grieve deeply for lost loved ones, even shedding tears and suffering depression. They have a sense of compassion that projects beyond their own kind and sometimes extends to others in distress.

They help one another in adversity, miss an absent loved one, and when you know them really well, you can see that they even smile when having fun and are happy.

FORGIVE AND FORGIVE AND FORGIVE - AND WATCH THE INNOCENT KEEP ON DYING

Firefighters, especially volunteer firefighters, are the creme de la creme. The most noble of people.

Doctors are revered. They save lives. But doctors can live a good, comfortable life. They are respected, well paid, and the risk to their lives is relatively well controlled.

Lawyers are respected - though heaven only knows why. They live the good life, high on the hog and no matter who loses, they win.

And then there are the firefighters who risk their own lives to save the lives of strangers and their property. There are no comforts and riches - or even respect - for them. They are the best. But you won't give them a thought  - until you find your own house on fire.

And then there are the lunatics and the criminals who make life hell for innocent people. And our laws protect them. They have all the rights.

The Montreal Police told me "Crime victims have no rights. Only the accused have rights."

If this criminal in Webster, New York, had been executed for his first murder - the brutal murder of his own grandmother - those firefighter would be celebrating Christmas with their families today.

But the "virtuous" lawmakers, following the New Testament command to "forgive seventy-times-seven" - will tell you the man "paid his debt to society."

And watch the "good" people - the families of the victims - forgive the butcher who killed their loved ones.

The innocent will be safer when wise men have the courage to make laws that prevent any killer from getting a second chance. There is only one way to be sure of that.

View Photo Gallery — Gunman kills 2 firefighters in New York: Police say he set a house and car ablaze to lure firefighters to the location, then opened fire on them before committing suicide.

Authorities used an armored vehicle to help residents flee dozens of homes on the shore of Lake Ontario a day before Christmas. Police restricted access to the neighborhood, and officials said it was unclear whether there were other bodies in the seven houses left to burn.

Firemen shot

The gunman's sister, who lived with him, was unaccounted for. The gunman's motive was unknown.

William Spengler fired at the four firefighters when they arrived shortly after 5:30 a.m. at the blaze in Webster, a suburb of Rochester, town police Chief Gerald Pickering said. The first police officer who arrived chased the gunman and exchanged shots.

Spengler lay in wait outdoors for the firefighters' arrival, then opened fire probably with a rifle and from atop an earthen berm, Pickering said.

"It does appear it was a trap," he said.

Spengler had served more than 17 years in prison for beating his 92-year-old paternal grandmother to death with a hammer in 1980 at the house next to where Monday's attack happened, Pickering said. Spengler, 62, was paroled in 1998 and had led a quiet life since, authorities said. Convicted felons are not allowed to possess weapons.

Two firefighters, one of whom also was a town police lieutenant, died at the scene, and two others were hospitalized. An off-duty officer who was passing by also was injured.

Another police officer, the one who exchanged gunfire with Spengler, "in all likelihood saved many lives," Pickering said.

Emergency radio communications capture someone saying he "could see the muzzle flash coming at me" as Spengler carried out his ambush. The audio posted on the website RadioReference.com has someone reporting "firefighters are down" and saying "got to be rifle or shotgun — high powered ... semi or fully auto."

Spengler lived in the house with his sister, Cheryl Spengler, and his mother, Arline Spengler, who died in October. He had originally been charged with murder in connection with grandmother Rose Spengler's death but pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of manslaughter.

A friend said William Spengler didn't seem violent but hated his sister. Roger Vercruysse lived next door to Spengler and recalled a man who doted on his mother, whose obituary suggested contributions to the West Webster Fire Department.

"He loved his mama to death," said Vercruysse, who last saw his friend about six months ago. "I think after his mama passed, he went crazy."

Vercruysse also said Spengler "couldn't stand his sister" and "stayed on one side of the house and she stayed on the other."

The West Webster Fire District learned of the fire early Monday after a report of a car and house on fire on Lake Road, on a narrow peninsula where Irondequoit Bay meets Lake Ontario, Monroe County Sheriff Patrick O'Flynn said.

The fire appeared from a distance as a pulsating ball of flame glowing against the early morning sky, flames licking into treetops and reflecting on the water, with huge bursts of smoke billowing away in a brisk wind.

JUSTIN TRUDEAU AND RELIGIOUS FANATICS

I am no admirer of Justin Trudeau, but it is important to keep an eye on Muslim, Catholic, Evangelical and other extremists. Logic, fact, reason and personal responsibility have no place in their agendas that are deeply rooted in primitive doctrines.

Justin Trudeau vs. God

Michael Coren cheers that God sent a storm to Sudbury to prevent "Heretic Trudeau" from speaking to Catholic students. Justin Trudeau actually still managed to speak with students, but the crowd wasn't as large as it might've been. Nonetheless, Campaign Life Catholics has sent out a news release—entitled " 'Act of God' spares 900 catholic youth from Justin's clutches"—to thank God for His efforts.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sudbury, ON,  December 21, 2012 -   Faithful Catholics in Sudbury are thanking God today for having blocked pro-abortion extremist, Justin Trudeau, from being able to influence the hearts and minds of many children at St. Charles College High School. A winter storm caused the board to cancel school buses. An announcement on the Board's website states that fewer than 100 students were present for the Liberal Leadership hopeful's address this morning, contrasted with the 1000 it originally planned to pack into the school's amphitheater.

"God is good. He spared 900 Catholic youth from being potentially influenced by Justin's immoral views in support of abortion and homosexual marriage", said Kevin Murphy, a Catholic ratepayer and one of the protestors who stood outside the board office and St. Charles College for 4 days.

Suresh Dominic, a spokesperson for Campaign Life Catholics, a division of Campaign Life Coalition, who helped organize the protests added, "We continue to disapprove of the board's decision for allowing Justin to speak at the school, but we are thankful for the weather that limited Justin's exposure to only 100 people."

The Board had rebuffed critics by claiming that no risk of scandal to the faith of children existed since Justin was asked not to speak about abortion or homosexuality. Murphy disagrees with the Board's reasoning, "That's ludicrous", he said. "There's widespread public knowledge of Justin's opposition to these Catholic teachings, so giving him a platform, regardless of the topic, can be interpreted by kids to mean that the Board is supportive of all that Justin stands for."

SOMEONE ASKED ME, "WHAT IS THE N.R.A.?"

I explained,
As best I could -

NRA is The American "National Rifle Association".

They are probably the most influential group in the USA, rivalled, no doubt, by the oil industry, Wall Street and the Free Masons.

The NRA is so powerful, they may determine the outcome of elections in some states. They block the passage of legislation that would ban assault weapons for civilians in America.

The NRA insists that every American must have the right to own and carry guns. They have succeeded so far because the right to bear arms is written in your Constitution.

Fifty percent of Americans own at least one gun.

Then,
In the middle of the night,
It suddenly occurred to me -

The NRA is

The New Republican Army.

"Hang onto your Confederate money, boys !

The South's gonna rise again !"

Do you own shares in the gun industry?

Are you a willing accomplice to the massacre of children?

WEEP FOR THE WORLD - PRAY IF YOU WILL

How long can you count your money,
And contemplate your ipod -

Before you suddenly realize that
What has happened to others,

Is about to happen to you?

First they came for the communists,
And I didn't speak up,
Because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the Jews
And I didn't speak up
Because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
And I didn't speak up,
Because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Catholics,
And I didn't speak up,
Because I was a Protestant.

Then they came for me,
And by that time -

There was no one left to speak up.

I REMEMBER LAURIER LAPIERRE

I never had the pleasure of meeting Laurier LaPierre, but he graciously wrote the forward for my book, A PORTRAIT OF ASGAR AND THE PLIGHT OF KASHMIR.*

I used to follow Professor LaPierre on CBC's THIS HOUR HAS SEVEN DAYS and I was impressed by his elegance, his intelligence and the beautiful manner in which he spoke the English language.

OTTAWA - Laurier LaPierre, former Liberal senator and co-host of the iconic CBC program "This Hour has Seven Days," has died. He was 83.

Federal Liberal leader Bob Rae confirmed LaPierre's sudden passing on Monday afternoon, describing his former colleague as an accomplished scholar and passionate advocate for key Canadian issues.

"From academia and journalism, to his tireless advocacy for bilingualism, the arts and gay rights, Laurier was an exceptional Canadian who touched the lives of many," Rae said in a statement.

LaPierre's former Senate colleague and friend Jim Munson echoed Rae's sentiments, calling his friend an extraordinary person with the gift of adding zest to any situation.

The feisty passion that made him a household name during his career with the CBC was still in evidence as recently as two weeks ago when he attended local political events in Ottawa, Munson said, adding LaPierre's penchant for laughter and mischief was as much a part of his personality as his desire to fight for the underdog.

"I loved his spontaneity. I loved his passion. We're going to miss a person like Laurier LaPierre. I know that history will treat him kindly."

Born in 1929 in Lac Mégantic, Que., LaPierre first distinguished himself as an academic. He obtained his PhD in history from the University of Toronto in 1962, two years before rising to national prominence with "This Hour has Seven Days."

LaPierre co-hosted the 60-minute current affairs program alongside Patrick Watson, earning a reputation as a fearless journalist with a knack for cutting to the emotional core of an issue.

That talent got him into trouble in 1966, according to the CBC. He famously blinked back tears during an interview with the mother of Stephen Truscott, who at 14-years-old had been sentenced to death on what later turned out to be a wrongful murder conviction. LaPierre was harshly criticized in the media, and CBC president Alphonse Ouimet called his reaction "unprofessional."

LaPierre's contract was not renewed, and the show went off the air that May.

LaPierre made sporadic returns to television in the ensuing years, but maintained his career as an academic with faculty stints at the University of Western Ontario, Loyola College and McGill University.

He also made a brief foray into politics in 1968, when he ran as a federal NDP candidate in the Quebec riding of La Chine. He was defeated in that election and did not make a political splash until Jean Chretien appointed him to the Senate in 2001.

During his three-year term, Munson said LaPierre's characteristic zeal led him to speak out passionately on behalf of the country's aboriginal population.

"He did have a soft spot for what we as a society have done and continue to do to the First Nations people of this country. He would speak in very passionate tones about respect and understanding of the status of First Nations people," Munson said.

Gay rights were also dear to LaPierre, who came out himself at a public rally in the 1980's, Munson said.

He made headlines for his vocal support of hate crime bill C250 in 2004 and worked as an activist for Egale, a national lobby group for gay and lesbian rights.

LaPierre is survived by his long-time partner Harvey Slack.

HOW CAN WE NOT GRIEVE ?

How can we not grieve? Even if we don't know any of the victims personally, we know now what was done to those innocent children and their teachers.

How can we not weep?

How can we fathom how much harm one lunatic can do in a matter of minutes when doctors all over the world struggle for weeks, months, years to save one human life?

How can we fathom the fact that millions of little children all over the world are sold into slavery, raped, have died of disease, of hunger, of thirst, have been murdered have been shot or burned or blown apart in war - or drowned in God's name - and no one knows their names, and we do not hear of their suffering except fleetingly?

How can we fathom the injustices that are behind so many of the deaths of the innocents? We are overwhelmed by injustice, by cruelty, by madness.

What are we to do?

GOD IS OUR COP-OUT

People use "God" for their own purposes, to satisfy their own needs.

Children are brutally murdered and people say it is because we don't allow prayer in our schools.

The Nazis wore his name on their belt buckles - "Godt Mit Unz" - God is with us.

Football players and baseball players and boxers pray before they engage in their sports. Each one thinks God is on his side. Whose side is God really on?

Innocent children suffer and die all over the world all day every day, and people pray to their God for pleasant weather so they can play golf. Whose side is God on?

Politicians claim God as their own all the time. If they win, they thank God. If they lose, they blame their opponents.

Mafia members attend church and demonstrate great devotion to Christ and Mary.

The Vatican is "devoted" to Christ - with billions of dollars in art, marble statues, magnificent robes, gorgeous buildings and untold wealth in banks and lands all over the world - while little children - even Catholic children - die of famine and disease.

Man created God in his own image. People need something to believe in. It is easier to say, "It is God's will" than to take personal responsibility.

No one knows the real God. It is beyond our ability to know or to understand what God is and what God wants.

It is good that people have hope. But God is not a substitute for personal responsibility and it is a cop-out to blame God for our own failures, rather than dealing with real problems and taking action against liars, bullies, corruption, crime, abuse and every sort of injustice ourselves.

So shrug your shoulders and pray if you will. God helps those who help themselves - for good or for evil. We are responsible.

ANNIE - GET YOUR GUN ! - IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY?

We are living in the shadow of a BIG LIE.

Once, Canadians - like me - and Americans, saturated by lovely films from the movie industry, believed in heroes and "good guys".

I - we? - thought that most people were good and that "the law" - the cop on the corner - would keep us safe. But if it was ever true, it is true no longer.

While North Africa and the Middle East wallow in hatred and death, North Americans are living in the shadow of the few filthy rich people who run just about everything. What that means is endless corruption and injustice. The wolves watching over the sheep.

Ordinary people like me can no longer trust government or the police to protect the innocent or to bring justice to victims of crime and abuse.

Most of us - ordinary people - have no practical way to defend ourselves or our rights. We have no one to turn to, no one we can believe in or trust.

Some people just trust in "God" - in whatever tradition they imagine their God. They have given up on justice in this world and are putting their hopes up into the sky. They will be better off dead. What does that say about the world today?

Some of us gather, in a fashion, on the wonderful new medium - the WWW - where we offer our thoughts, our feelings, our ideas and an odd new kind of friendship and support. Many are getting together - in real life - to protest against injustice.

The World Wide Web is the new hope for freedom and our last hope for justice.

Yes. Some may choose to obtain a gun for self defence because they can no longer rely on "the law", the cop on the beat, the courts, the governments. Self-defence is reasonable and may be necessary. But no civilian needs an assault rifle . Anyone who chooses to have one is up to no good and puts the rest of us in great danger.

GUN LAWS:

I was a Pinkerton investigator in the late 1970's. To obtain a weapon, you had to go to a gun dealer, choose your weapon, pay an non-refundable deposit and wait for months while the Quebec Police and the RCMP checked your background.

If you were not approved, you did not get back your deposit and you did not get the weapon.

If you wanted to buy additional ammunition, you had to fill out forms that were sent to the Quebec Police Force (Quebec Provincial Police or Surete de Quebec) and so the authorities here know who has weapons and who is buying ammunition.

LUNATICS DON'T VALUE LIFE -
NOT EVEN THEIR OWN.
THEY HATE THEMSELVES AND
THEY HATE EVERYONE ELSE.

Some of them just want to die and escape from everyone and everything - especially themselves.

Others believe they will live a better life on a radiant cloud in some distant galaxy.

Gun control is common sense. But how do you prevent lunatics from destroying the innocent when Christian commands - upon which western society bases law - say we must "forgive our enemies seventy-times-seven", in other words, forgive criminals again and again -endlessly. Forgive them no matter what they do.

Our systems provide dozens of excuses to protect criminals. "Temporary insanity" allows bloody murder, and lawyers - who include judges and people at the top of the money ladder throughout society everywhere - benefit from the injustice systems we have.

CHILD KILLER GUY TURCOTTE FREE IN MONTREAL - NO COMMENT !

MONTREAL—He stabbed his children 46 times. He's a free man after 46 months.

A cardiologist who killed his two children in a case that shocked Quebecers has been granted his release from a psychiatric institution, with conditions.

The decision to release Guy Turcotte comes as little surprise. A jury last year had found him not criminally responsible for killing his three-year-old daughter and five-year-old son. Since last year's court verdict, he had been in Montreal's Pinel institute where a panel Wednesday found him mentally fit to be released.

Turcotte's case has provoked a torrent of outrage in Quebec.

His ex-wife said Wednesday that she didn't blame the panel that released him because it had few legal options. What she blames is the broader justice system.

"So we're freeing a criminal," said Isabelle Gaston, the children's mother.

"I continue to hope the justice system changes. If things don't change ... injustices will continue. Like this one ... and the ones you don't hear about."

The cardiologist had admitted to stabbing his young children 46 times.

But he said he didn't remember doing it, hadn't wanted to do it, and had been experiencing blackouts on the night of the killings.

He said he was distraught over the breakup of his marriage. Gaston had left him for a family friend who was her personal trainer.

Turcotte's release was unanimously approved by a three-member panel. He will have to get annual mental-health checkups, continue his therapy, stay out of trouble, get approval for his choice of address, and avoid all contact with his ex-wife.

His legal woes are not quite over yet: the Crown has filed to appeal the 2011 court verdict.

Several cases like Turcotte's, including the 2008 bus-beheading in Manitoba and the Schoenborn child-killings in B.C., have prompted a federal policy change.

The federal government plans to make it more difficult for mentally ill offenders found not criminally responsible to be released from custody.

The Tories plan to introduce a bill in the House of Commons early next year that would make the safety of the public the paramount factor for review boards that determine an offender's release.

U.N. investigators work at a mass grave in Bosnia that is suspected to contain remains of Muslim men fleeing Srebrenica

STORY HIGHLIGHTS
  • NEW: Between 6,000 and 8,000 people were killed in the massacre, the U.N. says
  • The Bosnian town of Srebrenica was overrun by Serb forces in 1995
  • It was later described as the worst atrocity on European soil since the Second World War
  • The killings were carried out by ultra-nationalist forces bent on carving up Bosnia

(CNN) -- Nearly two decades after the Srebrenica massacre left thousands of Muslim boys and men dead, a former Bosnian Serb intelligence chief was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison for his role in their slaughter.

The Yugoslavia war crimes tribunal found Zdravko Tolimir guilty of genocide, conspiracy to commit genocide and other crimes committed in the eastern Bosnian town of Srebrenica, which was overrun by Serb forces in 1995 in what later was described as the worst atrocity on European soil since the Second World War.

The killings, part of the war's so-called "ethnic cleansing," were carried out by ultra-nationalist forces bent on carving up Bosnia based on religious and ethnic affiliations.

Between 6,000 and 8,000 people were killed in the massacre, according to the United Nations.

The court, based at The Hague, Netherlands, found that "the harm inflicted upon these men rises to the level of serious bodily and mental harm and constitute acts of genocide."

Tolimir's trial had been one of 12 criminal proceedings reviewed by the United Nation's International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, which has indicted 161 people for "serious violations of humanitarian law" occurring between 1991 and 2001.

Tolimir is thought to have been a top aide to Ratko Mladic, a Bosnian Serb military commander captured in Serbia in 2011. Mladic was considered the last of the top commanders of the war to be accounted for and is currently on trial at The Hague for genocide.

The 1992 to 1995 war in Bosnia war left tens of thousands dead, and hundreds of thousands displaced.

IT IS WITH GREAT SADNESS THAT WE SAY GOOD-BYE TO OUR BELOVED FIGMENT, WHO WAS THE SWEETEST, MOST LOVING DOG IMAGINABLE, AND SUCH A BIG PART OF OUR LIVES FOR THE PAST, SHORT, 11 YEARS.  FIGMENT IS NOW IN HEAVEN WITH RASCAL AND FIZZBIN AND TROUBLE AND TABATHA.  HE'S GONE FROM US BUT WE'LL NEVER STOP LOVING HIM.  THANKS TO EVERYBODY FOR YOUR SUPPORT

GONE, BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN

Through the years our family has had a number of precious pets - Our devoted dogs - Pitou, Jolly, Rascal, Candy, Kelly; The capucines - Peanuts and Coco; Our loving Siamese cats - Jade, Topaze and Amethyst, Our beautiful Guinea Pig  - G.P. Jester - and Hammy Hampster, and the budgies and the tiny finches. None of them could read, so nothing we write can mean anything to them.  But we write to try to lift the pain of their absence from our hearts and to honour their great love and devotion.

YOU ARE THE ONLY ONES COMPLAINING

Never doubt
That a small group of thoughtful, committed people
Can change the world.
Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

ELECTROHOME TV SCREEN PROBLEM - LINES NEAR TOP OF THE SCREEN

TV TECH INFO NEEDED. Can you advise me on this?

There is a thin red, white and blue horizontal line across the top of my Electrohome 27E510 TV screen. At times, there is also a faint white "grid" above the lines.

The effect above the line is ghostly distortions, like reflections.

At times I can see shapes and lettering in that space at the top of the screen, but I cannot identify the words. It is not "captioning". In a way it looks like another channel is cutting in.

Moving the rabbit ears doesn't change it. It is on all channels.

I tried fine tuning and the captions settings which I never use.

I have tried every button on my remotes for the TV and for the converter box.

I have tried changing everything in the menus. Nothing changes.

This started just a few of days ago for no apparent reason.

If you know the solution, please post a comment here or write to me - Phyllis Mass Carter - on Facebook.

Thank you,

Phyllis Carter

SUICIDE IS SUSPECTED - ROYAL KATE'S HOSPITAL RECEPTIONIST FOOLED BY PRANKSTERS

AN EYE FOR AN EYE.

News reports today that the hospital receptionist who was taken in by the idiotic pranksters and revealed some info about the Royal Kate has been found dead.

Suicide is suspected.

A prank. A selfish, irresponsible prank has killed an innocent human being.

But suicide is not "an eye for an eye". This woman's life was much too high a price to pay for being vulnerable and naive.

Now, the law will find that the pranksters were just being silly and they are not responsible for the woman's death.  The law always protects the criminals.

As a kid, I might have performed such a prank  myself, not expecting any dire consequences. How do we prevent such disasters?

That poor woman is dead forever, and no one wins anything. Think of her family - how they are suffering. But who cares?

The media will go on to report some nonsense about Lady Gaga and this poor woman will be forgotten. It is so unjust.

"An eye for an eye" means you don't cut off the hand of a person who steals a loaf of bread. You don't stone a woman to death for offending your religious philosophy.

How do we get the message through to people that suicide is NOT a just solution except in cases where a sick person is suffering and there is no hope for recovery.

HYPOCRISY - RIGHT-WINGERS ARE NOT CHRISTIANS

So who - or what - do they worship ?

"No one can serve two masters.
Either he will hate the one and love the other,
Or he will be devoted to the one
And despise the other.
You cannot serve both God and Money.

JUSTIN TRUDEAU IS PLAYING THE GAME. HIS COACHES ARE PULLING THE STRINGS.

In this report, Montreal journalist, Mike Cohen, seems to be happy with Justin Trudeau's declaration that he is not a supporter of Iran, but rather a lover of Israel, in spite of the fact that Justin's brother Alexandre has demonstrated his support of Iran and the Palestinians and his opposition to Israel - and Alexandre Trudeau is Justin Trudeau's senior campaign advisor.

This is a very convenient "spin" for those who want to see Justin Trudeau and the Liberals running Canada. Anyone who is politically savvy will see right through this nonsense. But the naive will buy into it.

We're not doing so well with Stephen Harper. But should we jump out of the frying pan into the fire ?

Justin Trudeau is not his father. Pierre Elliott Trudeau gave us hope and he was brutally frank. My whole family worked for Pierre Trudeau from the start - as devoted unpaid volunteers. Pierre Trudeau had his close, erudite Liberal friends and he listened to them, but he made his own decisions.

Justin is something else. I can smell it. He is playing the game as he is being "advised" to do. His coaches are deciding what he should say and do. I spent many years behind the scenes at private political meetings, campaigns, elections and conventions. I won't be taken in by a pretty face and convenient promises.

Some time ago, I wrote to Justin Trudeau and told him I was a crime victim. Much later I received an email telling me something about "light bulbs" and assuring me that he would look into my case. I never heard from him.

Marlene Jennings, Liberal Member of Parliament and former Quebec Police Ethics Commissioner stated at two public meetings in Montreal in 2008 - "Mrs. Carter's rights were violated three times."

I am a crime victim. A Montreal Police officer helped the thief, Dawn McSweeney, to rob me of everything I worked for all my life. I wrote to Justin Trudeau pleading for help. I never received anything in return but an automated response.

If Justin Trudeau were beautiful and had substance and character - if he demonstrated a love for justice - I would have supported him. But Justin Trudeau is pretty - and shallow.

If the young Trudeau does not care about crime victims and injustice before being crowned, I know he would be useless to us as a leader.

Because the cover-up continues, I must fend for myself. I am offering a $5,000. reward for the arrest and conviction of Dawn McSweeney, the Happy Tree Yoga Guru, and the return of everything she stole from me and from my family.

Detailed reports are open to the world. I have been reporting these crimes since the day the Montreal Police helped the thief rob me. If I have not been telling the absolute truth all this time, why has no one sued me? I invite the thief or anyone else to sue me. Please. These crimes must come before a court of criminal law.

Now with more than 64,000 readers around the world
And still no justice for crime victims in Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Liberal leadership candidate Justin Trudeau distances himself from brother's pro-Palestinian, Iranian views. (Photo: Joanne Hill)

Good for Justin Trudeau. The Federal Liberal MP for Montreal's Papineau riding and superstar candidate for the party leadership appears to have nipped a potential nagging issue in the bud by making it clear he does not share the same views on the Middle East as his filmmaker brother Alexandre, aka Sasha.

Alexandre recently produced a three-part documentary on CBC Television entitled The Great Game. He drew the ire of the Jewish community, reporting that Iran's atomic ambitions are for "defensive" purposes only, serving as an effective "deterrent" against Israeli "aggression" and belligerence.

Furthermore, he presented Israel as a bellicose nuclear-armed threat by remarking: "While there is no proof that Iran has even made the decision to start a nuclear arms program, Israel's nuclear arsenal will largely out-gun whatever weapons Iran might acquire.

"From the vantage point of Iran, it is the one being threatened, not the one doing the threatening."

Back in 2004, Alexandre produced another documentary called The Fence, which many felt showed an unbalanced view of life on the Israeli and Arab sides of Israel's security barrier, favouring the Palestinian narrative.

Justin finally cleared the air last week during a stop at the Leo Baeck Day School in Toronto. While acknowledging that his brother is a senior campaign advisor on his campaign, Justin stated how much he loves and appreciates Alexandre. But on the subject of Iran's apparent nuclear ambitions, he said the Middle Eastern nation represents "a credible and real threat that I am extremely worried about."

In regard to Alexandre's controversial views, Justin said: "On the issue of Iran, and Israel specifically, we disagree significantly," emphasizing that he is a strong supporter of Israel, and believes Canada's position would be the same, no matter who is in power.

Over the last few weeks I have worked the phone among many people associated with Justin's campaign. This includes some major players in the Jewish community who wanted me to know that this should not be compared to previous Liberal Middle Eastern storms involving the likes of former leaders Michael Ignatieff and Jean Chretien, now retired Senator Marcel Prud'homme and unsuccessful candidate Jocelyn Coulon.

In 2006, Ignatieff issued some harsh criticism of Israel over its actions in the war against Lebanon at the time. This resulted in Mount Royal Liberal MP Irwin Cotler's Israeli-born wife Ariela publicly denouncing the party and Ignatieff. It came on the eve of a Liberal leadership convention in which Ignatieff was among a slew of Grits who came out on the losing end to Stéphane Dion, whose ill-fated victory put the party into the gutter. Dion chose journalist Jocelyn Coulon to run against the NDP's Thomas Mulcair in the 2007 byelection in the long-time Liberal stronghold of Outremont. Coulon was plunged into crisis when his questionable views on Israel were criticized. (Ironically, Mulcair only agreed to run when it was clear Dion had chosen Coulon over yes, Trudeau).

When he was leader of the Liberal opposition in 1991, Chretien would not join with then Prime Minister Brian Mulroney in supporting a United Nations resolution for the United States to use military force if Iraq did not halt its invasion of Kuwait. With Israel in jeopardy – and ultimately the victim of Scud missiles falling in Tel Aviv – the Jewish community was troubled with his position. I recall meeting with one of his senior advisors a few years later and he asked me, "Will our position on Iraq hurt Jean?" It did not in the end. Prud'homme, during his days as a Liberal MP, was a vocal supporter of the Palestine Liberation Organization and continued to hold those views when he moved to the Senate as an independent.

The last thing Justin Trudeau needed was the Israeli-issue following him along during what seems to be an endless Liberal leadership campaign.
Now if only he can keep Alexandre quiet on that front, he'll have one less thing to worry about.

AT THE END OF MY FATHER'S LIFE, THE MCSWEENEYS SHOWED THEIR CONTEMPT

During the many months prior to the summer of 2000 when my father's life ended, I visited my Pop in the Griffith McConnell Residence for a few hours almost every day. Only a winter storm or complete exhaustion caused me to miss a visit. I think I missed three days in all those months.

One evening, Dawn McSweeney's mother, my sister Debbie, showed up in the doorway of my father's little room with her family.

I was told to get out.

Rather than cause my father any stress, I picked up my coat and purse and left the room quietly. I waited in the hall until they left and then I went back.

This is the nature of the McSweeneys.

It was not the nature of my "baby" sister Debbie before she met Dawn's father, Ed McSweeney.

Debbie was a sweet, tender child, a truly innocent kid who suffered from obesity from early childhood. To the best of my knowledge, she never had any friends.

When Ed McSweeney entered her life, we lost Debbie. It was the beginning of the end of my family. The results of that union culminated in the robbery by Debbie and Ed's daughter, Dawn McSweenery - the robbery that tore our family apart. And there was more.

While the truth stares us in the face,
Religious people make excuses.

They say that God hears all our prayers,
And He always answers -

But sometimes,
His answer is "No".

And those who will not take responsibility,
Promise the suffering
They will receive their reward -

After they die.

Thanks a lot !
