BARON BYNG HIGH SCHOOL - LEST WE FORGET

Baron Byng High School

MEMORIES OF BARON BYNG HIGH SCHOOL

The Official Theme Song

What are they saying,
Those far distant voices,
That whisper and echo in accents so clear ?
List' as they tell us of days long departed,
When others rejoices o'er Byng's name so dear.

Constant and true
In our work and our playing;
Fight hard and long for the joy of the thing !
Fight to the end with your heart in the doing !
Up play the game as we learned it at Byng.!

School days long past,
And the world's tide has set us,
Far from the place where so gaily we sing.
We will rejoice that we practiced and fostered

The Unofficial Theme Song

The Early 1950's: Baron Byng High School. Montreal, Canada.

Give a yell ! Give a cheer !
For the boys that drink the beer.
In the cellars,
Of old Baron Byng.

They are brave ! They are bold !
And the liquor they can hold -
Is a story that's never been told.

So it's guzzle, guzzle, guzzle,
As it trickles down your nuzzle !
Shout out your order loud and clear. !
More beer !

So let's drink some more -
Until Yoss breaks down the door,
In the cellars of old Baron Byng.

Who composed these songs?  I don't know.
I would welcome comments from anyone who remembers all the lyrics.

Baron Byng High School was located at 4251 St. Urbain Street, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It was named after the Julian Hedworth George Byng, 1st Viscount Byng of Vimy, the Governor General of Canada from 1921 to 1926. Byng was a World War I hero at the battle of Vimy Ridge, an important battle that many historians, like Pierre Berton, believe formed Canada's national character. Byng was also involved in a political scandal dealing with the succession of the Canadian Government, the King-Byng Affair in 1926.

From the 1920s through the 1950s, the school predominately catered to Montreal's lower-income Jewish population.

From the 1980s onwards, the building was the home of the non-profit community organization Sun Youth (Jeunesse au soleil)

Baron Byng High School is notable because it had a virtual who's who of Canada's academic, arts, business and political leaders. It has been immortalized in many books, including many by Mordecai Richler.

CORRUPT JUDGES ? THIS JUDGE DID NOTHING WRONG - CONSEIL MAGISTRATURE

Marlene Jennings, Liberal Member of Canada's Parliament, stated twice at public meetings in 2008 - MRS. CARTER'S RIGHTS WERE VIOLATED THREE TIMES.'

Russell Copeman, Member of Quebec's Legislature, acknowledged that my rights were violated and he tried to get the Conseil de la Magistrature to take action against the judge who condemned me in absentia, based solely on the most bizarre accusations made against me by a complete stranger - Kenneth Gregoire Prud'homme - a person I had never met or spoken to. A man I knew nothing about. I saw him in the distance once - at my mother's burial in June, 2007.

In the application that resulted in the court order, Kenneth Gregoire Prud'homme  - declares that -

Phyllis Carter

Dances naked on her mother's grave while wearing a bullet proof vest,
Wears a large cross,
Quotes the Bible,
Kills cats by throwing them against a wall,
Sets fires for pleasure,  and
Dreams of killing her parents in their bed

See - DANCING NAKED at

Yet now, in 2011, the Montreal Police still refuse to investigate these crimes.

Even when our aged mother was removed from her home and held in total isolation by the boastful "partners in crime" for almost a decade, the Montreal Police refused to investigate.

Even when the self-professed "partners in crime" sent me hate mail and obtained a court order declaring that I was insane and dangerous, the Montreal Police refused to investigate.

Without ever speaking to me, a Quebec Court judge I never met condemned me in absentia in four minutes with no medical evidence and no witnesses except my accuser, one of the thief, Dawn McSweeney's "partners in crime" - as she calls them on her own blog -  Kenneth Gregoire Prud'homme - and Dawn McSweeney's mother - under duress, I am certain. This, in Canada in the 21st Century.

If truth and tenacity are the characteristics of one who is insane, I am indeed mad.

(See the reports in The Suburban Weekly newspaper - September 5, 2007 - The Phyllis Carter Detention and September 12, 2007 - Condemned in Four Minutes.)

I am fighting for my life and for justice. Quebec's Human Rights Commission says I am "too late" for justice.

It is not only young members of minority communities that suffer abuse at the hands of the Montreal Police. On October 7, 1996, I was sixty years old, living with my elderly parents while fighting breast cancer when I was attacked and robbed in my home at 4995 Prince of Wales, Montreal. I called 911.

The Montreal Police I called to rescue me - helped the thief instead.

The Montreal Police officer "helped" me out of my home, physically - by my arm - and left me out in the street alone and destitute without as much as a coat. In front of my assailant he warned me that I must never return to the house and I could not take any of my belongings with me.

I have been pleading for justice day and night for thirteen years.

I have been ignored, delayed, diverted and rejected by those in authority.

Now I am told I am too late for justice.

I am 74 years old, widowed, and last year, I learned I have bone cancer.

Like the Nazis, Dawn McSweeney stole personal treasures and destroyed lives. (See the report on this blog.)

The fact that I had become a Christian gave Dawn McSweeney an excuse to pin a target on me. I never knew what hit me until years later when the pieces started to fall into place.

Once I was out of my home, the thief had free and total access to all my most precious belongings day and night for five months. Dawn McSweeney stole all my best jewellery and everything of value that I had worked for all my life and every precious thing left to me by my beloved husband, including his badge, his trademark grey Stetson fedora, our wedding portrait and much more.

This crime shattered my family. But it didn't end there. In 2007, the self-proclaimed "partners in crime" were still free to take everything that belonged to my parents and the heirs they named specifically - their children and grandchildren - in their own wills.

Canadian Member of Parliament, Marlene Jennings, twice acknowledged publicly that my rights were violated three times by the injustice system but no one will help me.

The Montreal Police who turned over all my precious belongings and the lives and property of my parents to the thief did not file a report and the Montreal Police have refused repeatedly ever since to take any action against the thief and her accomplices.

Even when these criminals took my widowed mother from her home and kept her in total isolation for almost a decade, the Montreal Police refused to investigate.

It was only days after my mother's death in 2007 when I was taken from my home by the police for the second time, based solely on accusations by those Dawn
McSweeney boastfully calls her "partners in crime" on her own blog.

Even when these criminals created a bizarre and malicious application for a court order to have me declared insane and dangerous, the Montreal Police would not investigate.

A Quebec judge issued the court order in four minutes without any medical evidence, without any witnesses but the criminals themselves and without ever speaking to me.

The CLSC Pierrefonds, Quebec, apologized in writing for their part in these crimes.

Russell Copeman, MNA, appealed for justice - to no avail.

I have appealed to every member of government, every authority, every agency I could think of. I am told  "It is not our jurisdiction," "No one did anything wrong". "Get a lawyer."

These criminals are still free to enjoy everything they stole.

I do not want money or compensation.

I can't afford a lawyer.

I am not eligible for legal aid.

What I want is justice. I want the criminals tried in criminal court.

I want the authorities to return everything Dawn McSweeney and her "partners in crime" have stolen from me and from my family - all my best jewellery and every personal item left to me by my beloved husband - and I want them to return to the family - not to me - my parents' property and money.

Thanks to the Internet, I can tell the world about these devastating crimes in the hope of finding a hero - one honourable person who will read about what was done to me and to my family and care enough to take the necessary steps to bring Dawn McSweeney and her accomplices before an honest judge in criminal court and return everything they stole.

On October 7, 1996, I was attacked and robbed in my parents' Montreal home, where I had been living for two years while recovering from breast cancer. At the beginning of October my teenage niece, Dawn McSweeney, and her boyfriend Alex had moved in with us. Within a week of Dawn's arrival, I was suddenly attacked for no apparent reason and without any warning. In shock, I managed to call 911.

One of the two officers who responded to my distress call 'helped' me out the door without as much as a coat. In front of my assailant, the officer told me that I must never return. This police officer's unilateral decision to evict me, forbidding me to return home, gave all my most precious belongings, and my aged parents' lives and property into the hands of Dawn McSweeney.

This action was taken without any investigation. There was no legal procedure. No hearing. No court procedure. No trial. No judgment. No background to support such an action. No justification. The officer just decided to do it. And then - he did not file a report.

Widowed, unemployed and fighting cancer, the Montreal Police abandoned me in the street alone, cold, homeless and destitute. My entire life was locked up behind me, in the hands of my teenage niece, Dawn McSweeney. I pleaded with the police to file a report, to go to the house and see for themselves the proof of what I was saying. They refused again and again. For six months, the police refused repeatedly to file a report. At 60, I had to start life again - from scratch.

Quebec's Police Ethics Commissioner, Denis Racicot, wrote to me: "The police have large powers and vast authority .... The case is "definitively closed." (sic) Large powers - to help criminals? Vast authority - to rob widows ?

I appealed to Quebec Premier Jean Charest. He wrote to say that the theft of all my jewellery and the fruit of my life's work and the personal treasures my husband left to me, is "a civil matter of an unfortunate nature." Grand larceny is a civil matter ?

After the robbery, Dawn's mother, Debbie McSweeney, our youngest sister, obtained power of attorney from both my parents. Every other member of the family, social services, fire protection inspectors and even police detectives, were barred from my parents' home thereafter.

In April, 2004, the home of our youth looked like something out of an Alfred Hitchcock movie, doors and windows overgrown with dead vines. I called for help and learned that my mother had been removed from her home. So I went to the police station to file a missing person report. The officer could not file a report - because Debbie, told him by telephone that she knew where mother was. To see your mother or get information about where or how she is, you have to file a civil suit. "But you will need a lawyer." But that would take months ! Can't the police check on my mother now ? Sorry.

The following is a matter of Public Record.

In June, 2007, we learned that our mother had died. She was buried on June 21, 2007 after being kept in total seclusion by Debbie and her associates from the day of the robbery. Suddenly, on June 26, I started receiving hate mail and threats to drop the robbery case were posted on my blog. I reported that to the police immediately. The next afternoon, June 27, two police officers came to my door with a court order to have me committed for a 30-day mental evaluation, accusing me of being insane and dangerous. I was released from the hospital unconditionally on June 29, 2007.

The Suburban weekly newspaper carried that story in two parts,on September 5, 2007 and on September 12, 2007.

The following is also a matter of Public Record.

Weeks later, I found out why a complete stranger wanted me silenced: My accuser, the mise en cause who applied for the court order, was one Kenneth Gregoire Prud'homme, a person I do not know and with whom I have never spoken. This same Prud'homme is named as the liquidator of a will in my mother's name created when she was 92 years old, handicapped mentally and physically and had been totally under the physical control and influence of Debbie and this group for a decade. Their will was notarized and executed, but OUR MOTHER DID NOT SIGN THAT WILL. All the children were included in the wills my parents had made. Only Debbie and Dawn McSweeney and Kenneth Gregoire Prud'homme benefit from the bizarre 2005 will.

Months later, I discovered Dawn McSweeney's own blog on the internet. The heading reads:
Dedicated to partners in crime and kindred spirits.
Voyeurs and well wishers also welcome.

In November, 2007, Member of the Quebec National Assembly, Russell Copeman, wrote an appeal to the Conseil de la Magistrature against the judge who condemned me with his court order in less than four minutes without ever seeing me or speaking to me and without any medical evidence, but based solely on the bizarre accusations made by a man I do not know and Dawn's mother, Debbie, who had not spoken with me since 1997. The Conseil de la Magistrature of Quebec replied that the judge did nothing wrong.

I am now 74 years old. I have been fighting for justice in this case for fourteen years. I will never give up. I want to make it very clear that I will not accept money or compensation" from anyone. I want my parents' true wills to be reinstated. I do not want anything from my parents' estate for myself. I want only what Dawn McSweeney and her associates stole from me. And I want the thieves tried in criminal court.

I am fighting for that rare and elusive treasure - JUSTICE !
I will not settle for anything less.

Phyllis Carter

MARLENE JENNINGS, M.P. STATED -
"MRS. CARTER'S RIGHTS WERE VIOLATED THREE TIMES."

My name is Phyllis Carter. I am a Canadian and I am a crime victim.  I have been fighting for justice since October 7, 1996, when I was attacked in my home and robbed of everything I had worked for all my life and everything left to me by my beloved husband. A Montreal Police officer helped the thief and the police have refused to pursue this case from the start. They say their hands are tied and crime victims have no rights.

At the Meet the Candidates assembly in NDG on October 7, 2008, Liberal Member of Parliament, Marlene Jennings, stated before all the candidates and the public, "Mrs. Carter's rights were violated three times". She indicated that there was nothing she could do about the first and second violations because of the system, but she will help me with the third violation - the 2005 will made in my 92 year old mother's name.

The three violations.

1. In 1996, the Montreal Police refused to file a report of the initial robbery. They have continued to refuse to act ever since.

2. In 2007, immediately following the death of my mother, the same group of criminals obtained a court order accusing me of being insane and dangerous. I was released from hospital unconditionally as soon as the doctors found out what my accusers had done and why. After my mother's death, we learned that -

3. In 2005, the same group who call themselves "Partners in Crime" created a will in my mother's name when she was 92 years old and handicapped physically and mentally. My mother was kept in total isolation by these criminals for ten years - until her death. The sole beneficiaries of the 2005 will were the same people who robbed me and obtained the court order against me. Then it became clear why these criminals tried to discredit me and silence me.

Dawn McSweeney and her associates robbed me and my family. I have provided copious evidence to the Montreal Police from the start, but the Montreal Police do nothing.

If the Montreal Police had acted properly on October 7, 1996, Dawn McSweeney and her "Partners in Crime" would never have had the chance to steal all my most precious possessions or to obtain a court order declaring me insane and dangerous. They would never have had the opportunity to make a will in my mother's name, when she was 92 years old and handicapped - physically and mentally. A will from which only the circle of thieves benefited. They would not have been able to keep our mother in total isolation for a decade until her death in 2007.

Everything that has happened since October 7, 1996, can be directly linked to the incompetence and perhaps, corruption, of the Montreal Police and Quebec's so-called "justice system".

I have waited for Marlene Jennings to act since 2008. But I do not just wait. I struggle for justice night and day. Somewhere there is an honest person who has authority and the conscience to do what is right. I continue to search for that person.

Phyllis Carter

THE CLSC APOLOGIZED FOR THEIR PART IN THE CRIME.

To try to discredit, intimidate and silence me so that I would stop pursuing the criminal case of the robbery that took place on October 7, 1996, the "partners in crime" obtained a court order accusing me of being insane and dangerous.

A social worker at the CLSC helped Debbie McSweeney and Kenneth Gregoire Prud'homme to draft the application for that court order. There were no witnesses and there was no medical evidence. I was never contacted.

My accusers were Kenneth Gregoire Prud'homme, a complete stranger to me, and my sister, Debbie Rubin McSweeney, who has not spoken a word to me since  1997. My mother's death was the trigger. I had to be silenced. A secret was about to be revealed, but I didn't know anything about it then.

The judge issued the court order in four minutes without ever speaking to me or anyone other than Mr. Prud'homme and Debbie. On this basis, two policemen came to my apartment and took me away.

In Canada in the 21st Century.

APOLOGY RECEIVED FROM CLSC (Quebec Community Clinic)

April 1, 2008

Through the intervention of our Member of the Quebec National Assembly, Russell Copeman, I received a copy of the following letter today, April 1, 2008:

Subject: Complaint from Mrs. Phyllis Carter
(File Number .........)

Dear Mr. Copeman,

Following our meeting, I proceeded to investigate the incident that led to Mrs. Phyllis Carter being evaluated against her will.

The Social Worker who assisted Mrs. Carter's sister in this endeavour followed the established procedure to submit a request for psychiatric evaluation. However, while conducting this investigation, in collaboration with the Director of Mental Health program, we realized that the option of informing the respondent (person for whom the request is made), as well as verifying this person's mental health, was not present.

In Mrs. Carter's case, the Social Worker took for granted the sister' statements about Mrs. Carter's behaviour. Therefore, the "Protocole requete pour evaluation psychiatrique" should be revised to include the procedure of verifying the person's mental status before sending in the request.

The West Island Health and Social Services Centre would like to apologize to Mrs. Carter for this experience. The supervisor of the Psychosocial intake, Mr. Claude Girouard, is willing to talk to Mrs. Carter, should she wish to do so. He can be reached at 514 -------- Ext. -----

Users' complaints represent an occasion for the establishment to improve the quality of its services. We thank you for bringing this situation to our attention.

Yours truly,

CJAD RADIO, MONTREAL - THEN AND NOW

The day before CJAD opened for the first time at 1191 Mountain Street in Montreal, their first engineer, a dear man named Lloyd Sharkey invited my father - George Rubin of Metropolitan News on Peel Street - and me to tour the station.

At the beginning, CJAD was a valued part of the community. As teenagers, we attended Club 800 and, through my family's store and our visits to the station, we came to know Bob Harvie, George Bishop, Alan Cauley, Wally Dunk and Don Cameron, original members of the CJAD staff.

Those were the days when CJAD's personalities treated the audience with respect and appreciation - even the teenagers. The after school program, Club 800, hosted by Bob Harvie and George Bishop, played the popular records of the day for a live audience and members of the audience were treated to Toni Home Permanent kits and Kitten sweaters as a bonus. But the most important thing was that we were treated with respect and appreciation.

In the 1970's and 1980's, I appeared on CJAD live in studio with John Oakley, Dave Patrick, Chris Mota and other hosts and even co-hosted a couple of talk shows, giving advice to callers. And my husband, Cliff Carter - Mr. Nostalgia of RCA Records - and I were always treated with respect and appreciation by all the hosts we met at CJAD.

Over the years when I was very active in politics and was a working journalist, I often called in to the talk shows, and I was treated with respect. Then, some time in the 1990's something drastic changed at CJAD.

Perhaps taking a page from CKGM's Pat Burns - smart aleck young hosts at CJAD were now speaking with contempt to and about callers. And still - as was evidenced in Pat Burns' case, people just kept calling anyway. Some virtually begging the hosts to humiliate them.

When Pat Burns left Montreal, a huge crowd - almost all women - gathered at Victoria Hall in Westmount to fawn over him and tell him how they appreciated his putting them in their place. It is shocking to see how so many people display masochistic behaviour. Hit me again, Pat Burns. I deserve it. Well, apparently CJAD's management thought there was something to be gained by having their own hosts emulate Pat Burns.

When I saw how callers were being insulted and cut off by CJAD's talk show hosts in the 1990's, I promised myself I would stop listening to CJAD. It was a hard habit to break, but I have never listened to CJAD since then. From what others tell me, the practice of putting down the callers continues, and the callers keep begging for more.

In recent years, writing my blogs and on Facebook, I decided to include CJAD Radio among my contacts. I have ended that now.

ARCHIVE INDEX PART THREE

THE POWER OF THE MEDIA OVER THE PUBLIC - CJAD TALK RADIO MONTREAL

I received the following email from Chris Bury of CJAD Talk Radio on January 19, 2011.

In a message dated 19/01/2011 8:52:26 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, cbury@astral.com writes:
Hi Phyllis. As i mentioned this morning I would like you to remove the _Radio-CJAD  Press Release address from this group list. You can send your e-mails to me but you don't need to send them to everyone on CJAD staff. Please remove the group address or I will ask that your e-mails be blocked.

Thanks

Chris

To Chris Bury,

Which address are you referring to? I don't know which address you call the "CJAD Press Release address". I intended to cut all CJAD contacts from all my lists and communications. It was once a great radio station for the people, but things changed there a long time ago.

The threat that you will block my emails doesn't give a very professonal tone to the CJAD image. I know the talk show hosts cut people off when they disagree with the callers, so it wouldn't surprise me. That is why I - and others I know - stopped calling CJAD. It is insulting to be "cut off" just because the host has the power to do it at his fingertips - and the caller is left looking foolish for calling. The caller could be Albert Einstein, but the host has the button. If you choose to ignore me that is your choice, but it is hardly fair. I can live without CJAD. I have for many years. Can you live with the knowledge that you put people down if they dare to disobey you?

THE PARABLE OF THE SOWER

In the New Testament, Luke 8:5, we are taught to sow good seeds everywhere. Some will land on rocks. Some will be scorched by the sun and die. But some will land on good soil. It is one of my favourite teachings.

I have been sending out reports and essays for years. Global Television didn't seems as bothered by the volume of my writing as much as by the fact that I ask people to read my blogs. But others are uncomfortable about the volume of articles I send them.

I received an email from Chris Bury of CJAD today asking me to phone. I did. He told me that CJAD's In Box is limited and he asked me to ration my posts on CJAD's Facebook page as well. He asked me to send my mail to him directly and he will filter it. I agreed. Maybe he will and maybe he won't, but one thing is clear - I am going to continue writing and people are going to read what I have to say. And someone is going to start asking questions about what I am saying. And sooner or later, what I am saying is going to cause changes to our injustice system, and ordinary folks are going to benefit. There is no such thing as telling too much truth.

When I was working as a full time reporter for the Lakeshore News and Chronicle in the early 1980's, my editor, Janet Tremblay Burley would give me a heavy load of assignments and several of my reports were published in the paper every week. But after a while, I was surprised to see that some of my best articles were being published without my by-line.

For example, I wrote a major report about the Mayor of Lachine, Guy Decarie, and his town council who had just voted themselves a "business trip" to Hawaii along with their wives and secretaries. The motion to approve this trip was glossed over quickly in the hope that no one would notice. But I made a point of dealing with it in my report.

The day after the council meeting my report about the trip covered the front page of the paper above the fold - without my name. Mrs. Burley said that the reason she deleted my by-line was that Decarie would seek revenge and anytime I would drive into Lachine in future, I would be targeted by the local police. She also said that she had to remove my by-line on some of my stories each week because it would appear to the public that I was writing the whole newspaper by myself.

The following day, the Gazette picked up my story and Decarie had to cancel the trip to Hawaii. I never did get a traffic ticket in Lachine, but I am sure Lachine's councillors and wives and secretaries were disappointed.

I will continue to write and send out my reports and essays as long as there is a need for justice and I am able to shed light on the truth. Some of my articles will land on good soil.

SACRIFICING JUSTICE FOR PEACE - JUST THIS ONCE

Anyone who knows me knows that I will fight for justice at all cost. There has been one exception to this in my life. I must admit that this once, I have sacrificed justice for peace.

After suffering for years with one cruel landlord after another, I finally found an apartment where I have been able to live in peace for many years.

Then, suddenly, at 2:00 PM on November 5, 2009, my peace came to a crashing end. I opened my apartment door to meet a friend who was waiting for me in the lobby and my world turn upside down - literally. I was suddenly flying through the air and landed with a shriek of agony, my leg twisted under me and such blinding pain I could not stop screaming.

I knew that the management was having people lay carpet in the building. What I did not know was that the workers had slathered some kind of glue on the floor in front of my door as a base for the new carpet. No one told me. And when I stepped out of my door my foot slipped in the thick wet glue and I went flying.

As soon as it happened the men came running. They wanted me to get up and go back into my apartment. They pressed me to go back inside. When the darkness receded enough for me to catch a breath, I dragged myself up on my good leg and locked the door. I told the men that I had a friend waiting for me in the lobby and I asked them to help me to the elevator and call an ambulance.

The men insisted I go back into my apartment. But I refused and they helped me to the lobby. I could not stand. I asked for a chair. Once seated, I asked the building manager to call an ambulance. My friend offered to take me to hospital in her car, but I was in too much pain and I was covered in thick wet cement from my running shoes to my neck.

Soon the building manager told me that it would take hours for an ambulance to come and she suggested I wait in my apartment or go by taxi. I would not be moved. I sat in front of the elevators in the lobby until the ambulance arrived. It did not take long.

Once in hospital emergency, X-Rays were taken and I was relieved to learn my leg was not broken - especially since I have bone cancer. Medical staff and an occupational therapist told me that I had to go to a convalescent hospital for two to three weeks. I refused.

They pressed me: "But you can't walk! You can't even stand ! You have to go to a convalescent home," they insisted. Finally I paid $45.00 for a special car with a wheelchair to return me to my apartment where I hobbled on one foot holding on to anything that came to hand for the next few weeks.

By November 9, my leg had swollen to about double its normal size and it was purple from the top to my ankle. I returned to the hospital and I was relieved to learn that there was no blood clot. A friend took pictures on November 12 - for the record.

What I did not know until a few weeks later was that my pelvis had been broken in the fall. The fracture showed up on an X-Ray ordered by my oncologist. The initial X-Rays taken on November 5 were only of my leg.

It took weeks for my leg to heal. I arranged for all my clothes, my trenchcoat, and my purse that were covered in thick carpet cement to be kept in case there should ever be a dispute about what happened to me on November 5, 2009.

After what I had been through since April 1, 2009, (see below) I could not bear any more stress. I decided not to take any action against the landlord, unless it became absolutely necessary. No amount of money could undo the damage. And I need a place where I can live without conflict.

This was the first time in my life that I ever chose peace over justice. But it is not my way and I do not believe anyone should accept injustice. I just wanted to write this, for the record.

We are now asking you to cease and desist this practice. While we value your comments, and freedom of expression and freedom of speech as a whole, posting links to your blog is not permitted.

Please respect our wishes.

Reviewing the exchanges, I believe Global is worried about the links to my reports of the robbery committed on October 7, 1996 by Dawn McSweeney - and those she boastfully calls her "partners in crime" on her own blog. Since I have been reporting these crimes to the Montreal Police and members of government and human rights organizations since the day of the robbery and I have not been sued, I think Global has shown itself to be extremely timid about reporting the truth.

While what I write will surely upset the guilty, every word is the truth and, while I do not claim to have any legal authority, I do know that speaking or writing the truth is neither slander nor libel. In any free society - as Canada claims to be - there can be no law against telling the truth, and, as I have told the police, I am always available to take a polygraph test.

I have deleted all connections with Global Television, as my focus is truth and justice and it appears that Global's focus is profit and popularity.

VITAL POLICE REPORTS - LANDLORDS AND TENANTS, LIFE AND DEATH

When Sabrina tried to start a tenants association in a tenement on Pierrefonds Blvd. in the West Island in Montreal, she nearly lost her life. It turned out the janitors were members of a motorcycle gang known to police. But the police she desperately summoned to the scene failed to make a report of the janitors' attempt to burn her alive in her car in the building's garage - and the Montreal Police detectives protecting Sabrina and her husband were almost as disappointed as the victims when the criminals walked out of Quebec Criminal Court smiling.

Two months after being welcomed as Canadian citizens, a young student couple from China living in the Cote des Neiges district in Montreal learned a painful lesson about Canada's injustice system. When they complained about the abominable conditions in their apartment and the aggressive behaviour of their landlord, the Montreal Police charged them as criminals. I was an eye witness.

Xiuwei and Xiaolin and their son left Canada for brighter prospects.

"When I became a Canadian citizen, I was really proud that I would enjoy freedom as any Canadian and I could have never imagined that someone could try to destroy my future just for fun - or for a $12. Rent increase. We left our hometown and tried to find a better place where we could enjoy freedom and personal right. In China if you have money or a powerful job you are always right. Poor people can never get fairness and don't have the right to speak out."

MONTREAL POLICE TELL VICTIM TO HUNT THIEF

When Dawn McSweeney returned all my jewellery boxes - empty - in mid-March, 1997, the police at the Mariette station told me to go to the house and ask for my jewellery.

So I went to the house where I had lived for two years and where I had been robbed - and I stood on the icy steps pleading for my belongings and crying my heart out.

And Dawn McSweeney stood in the doorway and mocked me and laughed at me - and then she called the police. And those same two officers who had just told me to go to the house and ask for my jewellery quickly arrived at the house and told me to leave.

In the summer, I learned that Dawn had a friend who was operating a jewellery store on Prince Arthur, I reported that to Det.Sgt. Sylvie Laverdiere. She  told me to go out and investigate myself and report my findings to her.

So I drove out to Prince Arthur and made inquiries and I wrote a detailed report to Sylvie Laverdiere. Laverdiere went to the house and standing outside on the front steps, the detective asked Dawn McSweeney for my Borg coat. And Dawn McSweeney gave her my Borg coat. And Det. Sgt. Laverdiere never did another thing to recover all my belongings from the thief.

Standing back from this case, as an interested party, I want to put on the record what I think. Each of you has a special interest in this case. I am interested in the basic cause of justice for victims and would-be victims. All the technicalities of law have their purpose, but I am deeply concerned about the basic principles and the effects on the innocent.

Anyone who willingly causes harm to an innocent person should be paying a heavy price for their actions, their cruelty, the effects on the victim and the victim's loved ones. The law and all the chatter tends to distract from the basic reality: Our society fails to do justice for victims. We just smother the truth with a lot of "stuff" so that we forget to do justice.

ABANDONED BY PRUDENTIAL INSURANCE

Victims of the flooding in Queensland are facing another crisis. Insurance companies there differentiate between "flash" floods and other kinds of floods. So many flood victims who have spent thousands of dollars (their currency) on insurance over the years may find themselves left in the mud, mould and mildew by their insurers on this technicality.

I know something about insurance companies from personal experience. For thirty years, I paid "The Rock" - Prudential Insurance (Assurance) - for coverage - house, valuables, and car - through an established agency in Beaconsfield on the West Island of Montreal.

When I was attacked and robbed in October, 1996, Prudential and my friendly, smiling agent dropped me like a hot potato. All of a sudden, they didn't know me.

I did not want compensation. I asked them to investigate and recover my stolen belongings. Everything I owned was still in the house where I had been living with my parents for two years - and where I had just been attacked and robbed - with the help of a Montreal Police officer.

Well, I guess Prudential heard "police officer": They abandoned me - just left me high and dry. But many unfortunate Australians will be left all wet by their insurers.

Insurance buyers BEWARE ! That friendly agent is not your friend.

NOT SILENCED BY GLOBAL TELEVISION

I received a message on January 14, 2011 from Global Television (see below) asking me to stop posting my comments on their Facebook pages because I provide the link to my blog, PHYLLIS CARTER'S JOURNAL.

But I insist on telling the truth - even though it is a very uncommon thing to do these days. The reader may want to check out THE TRUTH ABOUT TRUTH at http://phylliscartersjournal.blogspot.com/2011/01/truth-about-truth-it-isnt-easy_02.html

It is a struggle to tell the truth, a struggle for one voice crying out in the wilderness to be heard. When you do not own a media empire, when you have no money and do not want money, when all you want to do is ask for justice for ordinary people, it is a struggle.

But as long as there is the Internet, one small voice crying out for justice can still be heard - as long as there is even one person in the world who wants to read the truth about the plight of ordinary, powerless people.

There have always been people struggling to make truth known. Since Jeremiah and Daniel and Gandhi, there have always been people trying to tell the truth to people who have other agendas, people who do not want the truth to be known - people who do not want "competition" - even from a mere flea like me Those who hold power have always tried to silence little people who dare to speak truth. Yes, it is scary. But as long as you, the Reader, want to know the truth, I am not alone.

In spite of the fact that I have no money or power, somehow Global Television is bothered by what I write. But I have no commercial interests. I am not looking for money. Everything that I write is true and clean. All I write is stories about good people who should be noticed and remembered, and appeals for justice.

It is unjust for anyone - including great powerful corporations - to benefit from the ideas, experience, efforts and/or writing of any author without acknowledging or allowing the writer proper recognition and credit. Global Television - recently taken over by a corporation called Shaw - cannot justify using my "posts" while denying me the right to declare who I am.

I am just a tiny entity in the world, but as long as I am able to think and write, I will continue to fight for justice and I will publish the truth for anyone in the free world to read. And part of the whole truth is that I am the author of PHYLLIS CARTER'S JOURNAL.

I am fighting for my rights. I am fighting for your rights.

Justice means justice for everyone, including thinkers and writers and those who persevere against all opposition and persistently use peaceful means to fight for justice.
