It is amazing what we can go through and still come out fighting if we don't allow ourselves to become depressed about the injustices forced upon us by the powers that be. Fighting alone for what is right can be overwhelming when those who hold our lives in their hands choose to ignore our humanity and our human rights. In Montreal, Canada we have always felt "superior", above others, because we thought we lived in a "just society". But the Internet has revealed that so many Canadians suffer terrible injustices that our elected officials and the commercial media just ignore.

YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE ! BUT I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING !

EXPOSE THE DEEDS OF DARKNESS
Ephesians   5:11

Do you sit in your pew and sing on Sunday -
And cover for a villain by your silence on Monday?

Are you shielding a criminal ?
A blue collar criminal?
A bad cop ?

A white collar criminal ?
A bad doctor ?
A bad judge ?

A bad lawyer?
Skip that one -
Let me know if you find a good one.

Have you sipped the blessed wine?
Are you protecting a thief -
By your silence ?

Silence implies consent.
If you know about a crime -
And you have done nothing about it,
You have made yourself an accomplice.

How many helpless people died in World War II,
Not because of the Nazis alone,
But because of all the Europeans who kept quiet ?
The blood of the innocents is on their hands too.

First they came for the Communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time, there was no one left to speak up. Pastor Martin Niemoller.

Criminals could not do what they do -
If you didn't let them.

It is a command !
Expose the deeds of darkness !
Ephesians 5:11

It is a command !
Justice, only justice shalt thou pursue !
Deuteronomy 16:20

THERE WILL BE NO PEACE UNTIL CLIFF'S SHIELD IS RETURNED TO ME.

We'll hear from a victim of the regime and from someone who's befriended one of the defendents. Will this trial, described as a "second Nuremberg" answer crucial questions about why the Khmer Rouge did what they did - killing millions in their radical push for agrarian reform.

Phyllis Carter  Like the old Nazis, tyrants and monsters walk free and enjoy life for decades until the authorities get around to bringing them in. Then their lawyers, aided and abetted by "the law", find loopholes to delay and defer and stall, so that the killers die of old age before they feel the wrath of the victims' souls and the agony of the victims' kin. And then there are always people who say, "That was so long ago. They are old men now. Just forget it." Or "The Lord taught us to love our enemies and to forgive them." And so criminals - of all kinds - are thriving all over the world. Is it any wonder revolutions are boiling up all over the world?

    EVIDENCE THAT DEMANDS A VERDICT
Which Quebec statute permits a Montreal Urban Police officer to evict from her home the victim of an attack who called 911 for help - a 60 year old widow, cancer patient, evicted without any justification, warning or legal procedure - to leave her homeless and destitute in the streets of Montreal in October without so much as a coat, and to give all her personal possessions to her assailant, without any court procedure?

      THE BOOK OF NEGROES

ABOUT THAT DISQUIETING WORD "NEGRO" -
      TO AUTHOR LAWRENCE HILL

I was just listening to your interview on CBC Radio: About that disquieting word, "Negro".

In Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury's classic, frightening vision of the future, firemen don't put out fires--they start them in order to burn books. ...

      The Nazis burned books.

Now some character in Holland intends to burn your book because you use the word "Negro" in the title:

"Wherever they burn books they will also, in the end, burn human beings."

Heinrich Heine  (German Poet and Writer, 1797-1856)

      DON’T CHANGE THAT STREET NAME

When people suggest a street name be changed, chances are they are not thinking beyond the ends of their own noses.

When a street name is changed, everyone living or running a business on that street has to change their address and let it be known to everyone they know and deal with.

People have to change their address for their driver's licenses, their health cards, utility companies, life insurance, their wills, and with their creditors and on and on. They have to inform their doctors and dentists and pharmacies and groceries and credit card lenders, and banks and telephone and Internet servers. And all government agencies - including those responsible for income tax and pensions.

The signs on the street have to be changed. Maps have to be changed. City directories have to be changed. Telephone information sources have to make the change. It is an insane thing to do. It costs a fortune to the city and to all the people living and working on the street and up to higher governments who have to change all their documents. Anyone with whom you have outstanding business will have to figure out that you have a new address.

And you never know who you have forgotten to tell that you have a new address. Friends and relatives you haven't been in touch with may never know why you have disappeared.

ABOUT THAT DISQUIETING WORD "NEGRO" - TO AUTHOR LAWRENCE HILL

      Lawrence Hill — Biography

Lawrence Hill is the son of American immigrants — a black father and a white mother — who came to Canada the day after they married in 1953 in Washington, D.C. On his father's side, Hill's grandfather and great grandfather were university-educated, ordained ministers of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. His mother came from a Republican family in Oak Park, Illinois, graduated from Oberlin College and went on to become a civil rights activist in D.C. The story of how they met, married, left the United States and raised a family in Toronto is described in Hill's bestselling memoir Black Berry, Sweet Juice: On Being Black and White in Canada (HarperCollins Canada, 2001). Growing up in the predominantly white suburb of Don Mills, Ontario in the sixties, Hill was greatly influenced by his parents' work in the human rights movement. Much of Hill's writing touches on issues of identity and belonging.

Lawrence Hill's third novel was published as The Book of Negroes in Canada and the UK, and as Someone Knows My Name in the USA, Australiaand New Zealand. It won the overall Commonwealth Writers' Prize for Best Book, the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize, the Ontario Library Association's Evergreen Award and CBC Radio's Canada Reads. The book was a finalist for the Hurston/Wright LEGACY Award and longlisted for both the Giller Prize and the IMPAC Award.

      Hello Mr. Hill,

I was just listening to your interview on CBC Radio: About that disquieting word, "Negro".

Some character in Holland intends to burn your book because you use the word "Negro" in the title:

In our time, the popular word is "Black."

There are relatively few people who can be classified as truly "black." It is only people whose origins were in deepest Africa and southern India and the aboriginal people of Australia whose skins may appear strikingly black. I have seen only a handful of blue-black people in Montreal. I was a child at the time, and their appearance was so unusual, it took me aback. The hundreds of others I have seen all my life, and the many people I know are various shades of brown.

So, I would not mind if people chose to be called "brown" or "dark-skinned". Those terms would be accurate if it is necessary to identify someone by their appearance.

The term "Black" is a political word stirred up by extremists during the civil rights upheaval. It came from angry people who called themselves "X" and promoted hatred toward Caucasians and Jews. It does not apply to most people of African descent.

My beloved husband, Cliff Carter, was a descendant of African-American slaves and teachers. He was born in Manhattan in 1902. In his youth, the word "black" was always followed by "bastard." No self-respecting Negro wanted to be called "black".

The respectful term in the first half of the twentieth century was "Colored" and that felt right to the folks I know. But then people came along and said, "What color?"  So you can't win.

Being identified as "Negro" was not considered offensive in North America in the 20th  century, until the extremists burst onto the scene. Following decades of unyielding oppression and injustice, it took violent people to get the world to pay attention.

So, many sheep paid attention to the "X's" and emulated their hatred and took on the mantle of "Black" with a threatening fist emblazoned on their jackets. They felt empowered.

At the same time, respectable Negro people looked to Martin Luther King for a way to maintain their integrity and their dignity and their humanity - and peace.

"African-American" is a mouthful. We run into the same tug-of-war about North American "First Nations" people - Aboriginals? Indians?

It isn't the word that matters. It is your intention that matters, and so much of this Black business is about politics and history and injustice and power and not at all about people or race.

      ARTICLES ON TOBACCO

The Americans will start putting pictures of cancer patients and corpses on their cigarette packages in September, 2012. It has taken them a long time to tell the people the truth. When I was starting high school in Montreal in the early 1950's, some kids were starting to smoke. I said tobacco could cause cancer. They didn't believe me.

GOVERNMENT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR TOBACCO DEATHS

TO THOSE WHO ARE AWAKE - GREENPEACE AND FRIENDS

We hear it over and over again. While those who are awake to reality fight to save what is left of our planet, those who see only to the ends of their noses fight for jobs and profits in oil and coal and nuclear energy.

It is the responsibility of governments who live on the public purse to provide education, food, shelter, health care and jobs to coal miners and oil workers so as not to leave them destitute while we try to save the world for our children and grandchildren - and perhaps save ourselves from immediate extinction or years of suffering with cancer due to a nuclear explosion.

We know there are huge resources for alternate energy: - The sun is there: We notice that when we get burned. The wind is there: We notice that when it blows down homes and trees. And the ocean waves are a source of endless power. We notice that during the tsunamis.

But it does not serve the greedy interests of the leaders of big industries to have the people invest in anything but coal, oil and nuclear power. It isn't that there are no other sources of energy available. The real problem is that big money wants more and more money. As if they could take it with them to their graves.

Those who are awake must start making real noise before it is too late.

Politicians do not listen to nice and polite.

Bravo to the brave people who are awake at Greenpeace !

EVIDENCE THAT DEMANDS A VERDICT - MONTREAL POLICE DO NOTHING

I am a 75 year old Canadian journalist, cancer patient and crime victim. I was attacked and robbed in my home in Montreal. I managed to call 911

The police I called to rescue me - helped the thief instead.

Since then, the Montreal Police have refused again and again to take any action against the thief, Dawn McSweeney, and those she calls her "partners in crime" on her own blog. (See below the letter I sent to Commander Francois Anger of the Montreal Police in 2002 - a letter the Montreal Police never answered.)

Member of Parliament, Marlene Jennings, twice stated at public meetings in 2008 that my rights were violated three times. But the Montreal Police refuse to take any action against Dawn McSweeney and her partners.

All the details of these crimes are reported at http://dawnmcsweeney.blogspot.com/.

I will answer questions. I will take a polygraph test. I do not want money. I will not accept any compensation. I want justice.

      Commander Francois Anger,
      MUC Police, Station 11,
      6255 Somerled,
      Montreal, Quebec
      H3X 2B7.

      Dear Sir,

Thank you for taking the time to write to me and thank you for the copy of a letter from Commander Paquin. I find no record of the original and I do not recognize the contents.

You tell me that the case is closed, but there are many questions that remain unanswered:

Can you tell me why the Police at the Mariette Station refused again and again to file a report of the October 7, 1996 attack and robbery - until March, 1997?

Can you tell me why Sgt. Det. Sylvie Laverdiere told me, the victim, to do the investigation myself and send her the reports ? In normal practice, I believe, the detective should have followed up my leads and sent me the police reports.

Can you tell me why, in the middle of March, 1997, the police officers at the Mariette Station told me to go to the house (4995 Prince of Wales) and ask for my jewellery?

After mocking me and laughing in my face, Dawn McSweeney (who had robbed me) called the police while I stood outside my home in the cold begging for my own belongings. And the same two police officers came to the house and asked me to leave.

Who had such power to intimidate those officers? A teenage thief ?

Can you tell me why the Police Ethics Commissioner, Denis Racicot,  never spoke to me, never interviewed me? Can you tell me why he was so eager to close the case ? Is it because, as the letter from his assistant, Maitre Monty, says, the MUC Police have "large powers and vast authority" ? Large powers to help criminals? Vast authority to rob widows?

Can you tell me why, for six years, I have been denied a copy of the police reports on my case? I believe that police reports - certainly of "closed cases" - would be Public Record available to any citizen.

The police at the Mariette Station told me that all my belongings would be returned to me if I would "just be patient". I have been waiting for six years. I never rest. My husband cannot rest in peace while I am still going through this nightmare. Cliff could not rest while the badge he wore with dignity, courage and devotion is in the hands of the thief.

You can bury the file, refuse to pursue the criminal, refuse to make any serious effort to recover the stolen goods, close your eyes and your ears to the truth, but there will be no closure to this case until my belongings are returned or the thief is in jail.

The investigation is accelerating and will expand until everything Dawn McSweeney stole is returned. I will be presenting my case to Human Rights and Civil Rights organizations.

At present I am bringing my case to government representatives, commissions and agents including those of the United States. Several of the items Dawn McSweeney stole belonged to my husband who was an American and an officer of the law in the United States. He served proudly as a deputy sheriff in the State of New Jersey - hence the badge Dawn stole - and he was entrusted with confidential work by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

My husband was loved and respected wherever he went. He was an honourable, decent, courageous man. I have reason to believe that American law officers who knew Cliff early in their careers will also be interested in his widow's plight.

We require the following pertinent information: Copies of all police reports relating to this case. Since all citizens have a right to know the laws of the land - the number, date and source of the statute upon which the policeman acted on October 7, 1996:

Which Quebec statute permits a Montreal Urban Police officer to evict from her home the victim of an attack who called 911 for help - a 60 year old widow, cancer patient, evicted without any justification, warning or legal procedure - to leave her homeless and destitute in the streets of Montreal in October without so much as a coat, and to give all her personal possessions to her assailant, without any court procedure?

Thank you in advance for your good faith.

      Here is what I pray:

God, I pray for the little daughter of Audria King,

And I pray for all the other little children who are sick !

Why? Why do the evil ones walk free while the children suffer? Where is justice?

Don't talk to me about Leviathans. I don't want to hear man-made excuses. I want miracles for the children. I want healing for the innocent !  I want justice ! I need  justice ! I plead for justice ! I demand justice !

Are you listening ? Do you care about us?

Do not send me evangelizers with excuses. Send me medicines and miracles! !

RIOTS, VANDALISM, DRUNKENNESS AND DESTRUCTION: When ever, where ever there is an opportunity to cause misery, there are always fools and villains who will do so. Why?  Because there are no consequences.

Pardon (from Zimbabwe) - Sometimes those who do riots are not fools or villains, but victims who could not find justice in the courts of "justice", or may be courts of "injustice".

I am a victim of the Montreal, Quebec and Canadian injustice system. Since I am not a fool or a villain, I do not damage anyone's property - not even the property of the thief who destroyed my family and my health.

Those who damage the innocent because they feel they have been wronged are fools and cowards. If someone has wronged you, your grievance is with that person. Why harm the innocent?  No. There is no excuse. It is pure evil.
