NATIONS GATHER AT MONTREAL SYNAGOGUE TO SUPPORT HUMAN RIGHTS IN QUEBEC

Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists and Sikhs gathered at a Montreal Synagogue on March 9, 2014 to meet and speak and sing in support of friendship among all people who love peace and who respect each other's religions, races and mother tongues.

The gathering was convened in response to oppressive legislation perpetually enacted by the Quebec government and carried out by the despised Office of the French Tongue. Endless harassment and ludicrous oppression: Remember the Anglo yogurt spoons and Pasta Gate. It brings to light the fact that the separatists do not represent the interests of all Quebec peoples.

The synagogue was filled to capacity with people of many races and religions, some garbed in beautiful saris, others in turbans. The instrumental and vocal music presented by the Sikh musicians was spell-binding and the swinging song of the Imani Choir, moving - literally. It was not easy to sit still.

Due to my illness, this was the first public assembly I have attended in a few years. It was inspiring throughout. As Rev, Darryl Gray preached in the fashion of the Civil Rights Movement, I would have called out "Halleh-luia!", but some of the more conservative guests might have been shocked.

You had to be there. If you were not, keep an eye on this blog. The Canadian People of Quebec are gonna rise again!
