From one extreme to the other.
On one side, we have "The Church" - all those who purport to speak for God:
On the other side, we see a trio of young women who have demonstrated that they will lower themselves to the most insulting and disgusting behaviour to get attention.
Whether or not "Pussy Riot" has legitimate grievances is not the issue from my point of view. The crime is not that they have stood up against authority, but that their behaviour smears the image of the decent human being. News reports show that these three women have also committed other acts that would make any decent human being sick to their stomach.
There is ample evidence through history that churches have abused and robbed and brutally killed thousands of innocent men, women and children, and those who blindly obey religious leaders have blood on their hands, but that does not make the silly women who are called "Pussy Riot" innocent or heroic. They deserve punishment. I do not have an opinion about what punishment would be fair and just.
At the same time, I would like to see more protests against all those who use the image of God to intimidate and control people in order to further their own greed and hunger for power.
