"FOCUS ON THE FAMILY" ENCOURAGES RAPE - MORALITY AND THE CHURCH

Phyllis Carter - I think morality, responsibility and self-respect need to be taught and I think no one is doing it outside of churches. These values should not be taught under threat of eternal hell fires, but with logic that relates to real life in the 21st century.

Sara Ashley > Speak for yourself. All I learned in Church was that I had to be submissive to men and their needs and that being a woman with sexual needs and desires of my own and wanting or even having sex made me evil. Meanwhile, men were taught that women were evil temptresses thar made men incapable of controlling themselves therefor it was the women's fault that men gave into their base desires. Even if it was rape. It's also why you constantly see men who thump that Bible going to jail for everything from rape of adult women to children. As an Atheist I do not teach my children these things and they are far more moral and ethical about sex and especially in how they treat women period then the Christians I was exposed it. They know that with sex respect and responsibilities are very much a part of it no matter if it's just a casual relationship or a long, term commited one.

Phyllis Carter > Sara Ashley - Thank you very much for sharing your experience in the church. We need people to expose such abuses committed in God's name.

Sara Ashley - Just to give you an idea of what Churches are teaching listen to "Focus on the Family". They just had a man who wrote a martial advice article for men that basically told them that so long as they don't look their wives in the eye to see the distress on their faces it was okay to force them to have sex. The Evangelical websites ran his articles as well. A few weeks later they had a another person, a woman, giving advice to wives telling them it didn't matter if they didn't want to have sex it was their duty to be available to their husbands when ever they wanted sex and to fake enthusiasm if they had to. Never complain and never say "no". And if you gave a "raincheck" it could only be for illness. And then you must give in if he wanted to cash in that raincheck. Not once did they ever take her and wants into account.

Phyllis Carter  > Sara Ashley - We must expose these freaks who twist the minds of people.
I will share this on my blog, PHYLLIS CARTER'S JOURNAL. IT IS ALL ABOUT JUSTICE - http://phylliscartersjournal.blogspot.com.
