When a criminal cries out for attention,
The commercial media grabs him up,
And gives him hours, months of publicity.
The thug appears on daytime TV shows -
Before and After,
All slicked up and groomed.
He is interviewed and photographed,
And published,
And paid richly for his time.
He is followed day and night
By the adoring press.
Hotels, restaurants, hair dressers,
Forgiving Christians,
Provide him with loving care.
In fact, he becomes a celebrity,
A media star.
His name and his image
Are embedded in the World Wide Web -
For eternity.
But when a person has committed no crime,
But has become the VICTIM of criminals ...
Silence.
Silence.
