  • WE HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT THIS. There may be real benefits in using such devices to control dangerous criminals and to protect those who suffer from memory loss and can find themselves on the train tracks or at the river's edge.
    
    But the concept is so dangerous and has the potential to bring on the nightmares of the police state that we have seen so often in fiction. Once there are laws that allow such devices to be implanted, there is always the potential for hellish abuses.

    The answer may not be to forbid the use of such devices altogether, but rather to very carefully put together legislation that will not allow for abuse - on the assurance of severe penalties - and I do mean severe.
    
    We must stop looking at government and the courts as gods. They are public servants. No judge should be allowed to play God. The People have to be vigilant and pro-active - without violence - but with great determination - working in concert to ensure the safety of the common people.
