I can't believe that anyone is surprised. It is the obvious target. Does anyone remember when Canadian journalist and founder of UNDERDOG - an organization to help victims for which I was an investigator -David Cowlishaw tossed a bag of beef blood down on the floor of Parliament from the gallery to call attention to some injustice ?

Being a senior has advantages : We remember what younger people never even knew. It is called experience. We hope that it means we have wisdom to offer.

PERSECUTED FOR BEING CHRISTIAN:

In Montreal, Quebec, Canada, I have been calling attention to the crimes committed against my family by Dawn McSweeney and her "partners in crime" for thirteen years. In 2008, Canadian Member of Parliament, Marlene Jennings twice stated at public meetings that my rights were violated by the authorities three times. But since she was re-elected she has been totally silent about these crimes.

In September, 2007, Montreal's leading English language weekly, The Suburban,

published two articles when the partners in crime obtained a court order declaring that I was insane and dangerous.

I was accused of wearing a big cross, quoting the bible, setting fires for the pleasure of watching homes burn, killing cats by throwing them against a wall - and dancing naked on my mother's grave.

A Quebec Court judge actually granted a court order against me in four minutes without ever speaking to me and without any medical evidence or any witnesses except the partners in crime themselves. Montreal Police showed up at my door and took me away for a mental evaluation. Honest. In Canada in the 20th Century.

There were several other incidents that revealed that my decision to be baptized was at the root of Dawn McSweeney's crimes. True she was jealous and greedy and vengeful - and there was some evidence that she was using some sort of drug - what we used to call "funny cigarettes". Anything beyond that? I don't know.

But Dawn could not have succeeded in robbing me if she had not persuaded my mother that, as a convert, I was the enemy within. And she could not have succeeded in robbing me and my family without the help of the Montreal Police, and the indifference and irresponsibility - and corruption? - of the authorities I have begged for help.

Immediately following the death of my mother, I found hate messages on my blog page for the first time.

Here are just a few of the messages sent to me by the "partners in crime". I learned months later that this is the work of Alex Lavergne, Dawn McSweeney's boyfriend at the time of the robbery. He uses the name The Ink.

I don't know how they post messages using my name on my own blog. They published my phone number (deleted here) and threatened to publish my address if I did not stop reporting the crimes. Alex suggests I stand on the railroad track and gloats over the report that I have cancer. See below.

MONTREAL POLICE ACT IN PLACE OF JUDGES

You find yourself in a dispute. You call 911 for help. Did you know that the Montreal Police are not obligated to take a citizens' complaint and make a report?

Furthermore, the police have the right to make a report of one party's version of a dispute and to refuse to record the information offered by the second party. I know of more than one case where this has occurred and caused serious prejudice to the persons whose reports were refused.

In my case, I was not the "target"of any government agency. I was the unfortunate victim of a Montreal Police Officer who was irresponsible - and I continue to be the victim of the Montreal Police who keep covering up for what he did. The only person for whom I was the target was Dawn McSweeney who robbed me. It was my misfortune that when I was being attacked and called 911, the police who were sent to rescue me decided to turn over all my life's possessions to my assailant instead. That put everything - including the lives of my parents - into the hands of Dawn McSweeney and her self-proclaimed "partners in crime." Better Change It's been two days since we did the radio show. Somebody tried to gain access to the email account I gave on air, I'm not receiving all of my messages on facebook, and the police car showed up on the street as I was walking to school (at 7:45 this morning). I'm hoping that I don't get any heavies as a result of me talking.

Clarke, Anglican Bishop of Montreal and an esteemed old friend, and to Rabbi Leigh Lerner of Temple Emanu-El Beth Sholom of Montreal, and to The Anglican Journal, and to Rev. Canon David Oliver, my minister and a dear friend who has earned by trust and admiration.

I was attacked by my own mother and removed from my home and all my life's belongings because I had chosen to be baptized. My mother was persuaded by my niece, Dawn McSweeney, that I was the enemy because I had betrayed the faith. My mother believed Dawn to be a virtuous Jewish girl. That misguided belief destroyed our family.

My mother had taught Dawn a whole other kind of Yiddishkeit that included crystals, tea leaves, spirits and telepathic beings who landed their flying saucer in our back yard. But I was treated as the enemy because I was Christian. Truly I have never been more Jewish than I have been since I became Christian. It all came together for me, but it was really painful for my mother, and Dawn used that to destroy me.

After thirteen years, I am still fighting for justice - alone. Alone. Because no one has the courage or the integrity to stand with me. No one wants to get involved. It is so easy to ignore this voice crying alone in this jungle of injustice. So easy to ignore what is clearly the truth. So easy to say "It is not my jurisdiction, not my responsibility and, anyway - you are too late for justice".

So I fight on, day and night, to my last breath - alone. But I fight anyway. Because it is right to do so, and I do not know how to live without justice.

THE STRANGE BRAIN OF GURU MCSWEENEY

What goes on in the mind of a thief? For more than thirteen years- since I was attacked and robbed in my home - with the help of a Montreal Police officer - I have been focused on recovering everything Dawn McSweeney and her self-proclaimed "partners in crime" stole from me and from my family.

In my report entitled " THE TRAGEDY OF DAWN MCSWEENEY - HOW TO RAISE A CRIMINAL - I describe in detail how Dawn was raised and how she behaved - her greed, her hatred, her jealousy and her malice. But I have not, until now, given any real thought to how she thinks.

How does a child become a thief who, without batting an eyelash, lies to her grandparents, steals their money and then robs her aunt - me - and then goes on to become a yoga guru, training strangers the ways of peace and contentment ? Does she have two separate brains that allow her to compartmentalize the thief in one part of her head while another part writes poetry praising her beloved grandmother ? I cannot fathom it.

My sister, Sheila, who tried time and again to help Dawn and Dawn's mother, our youngest sister, Debbie, can attest to Dawn's sneaky efforts to get money from her, but she wants to remain anonymous and will not allow me to even mention her name. The truth telling falls to me alone - until we finally get this case into criminal court. Then everyone will have to speak.

My mother based the last decade of her own life on the trust that Dawn McSweeney was a good Jewish child. (I being the betrayer of the faith.) She believed that Dawn was telling the truth and that she was devoted to her.

She did not believe that it was Dawn who had stolen her money. Years after that nightmare event, I learned that my mother had attacked me because she believed that I was the one who stole money she had hidden somewhere in the house.

Why believe that your first born child that you have always loved has become a thief and stolen your money?

Some time before my mother attacked me on October 7, 1996, in a casual conversation, my mother had commented that I was so enchanted by the Anglican Church that if I ever won the lottery, I would give the church all my money. She was deeply hurt by my conversion and she was constantly baiting me, asking me questions like, If Jesus was God, why did he say, "Why hast thou forsaken me?" to God when he was being crucified?

So we were having these heavy discussions all the time during those last months before my mother attacked me. Just heavy discussions. There were no arguments. I did not think these religious debates were about anything other than religion.

My mother would even listen in on my hour-long telephone conversations with a Christian friend. We could hear her heavy breathing on the line, but we said nothing. I just thought she was lonely and interested in our discussion. But there was something far worse going on. I just didn't know it.

Years later, in retrospect. I think my mother was listening to hear me say that I had taken her money. But, at the time, I didn't know there was money missing. I only learned about it by accident about four years after the fact.

Still, it was during the summer of 1996, that my mother's attitude toward me became strange. She would sit in her big armchair glaring at me, not saying anything, but glaring at me. I didn't know why, but it hurt. I could not have foreseen that this was a harbinger of a nightmare that would befall our family in a few short months.

I was aware that summer, that Dawn McSweeney was stirring up some kind of trouble. Since friends of mine from out of town had paid a very brief visit that summer, there was reason to believe Dawn was up to something. But what? I had no idea. But it was then that Dawn told my mother, in my presence that my friends who professed to love me, really hated me.

Dawn had invited the two teenagers outside - ostensibly for teen talk - while the adults sat in the living room chatting. When the family left, Dawn told my mother that the kids couldn't stand me. In fact, she said, they "despised" me. They only pretended to love me, "for fun".

Incidentally, we are still friends all these years later. The son, Robbie just got married this week.

It was after that visit that my mother's attitude toward me changed. My mother had pleaded me to "come home" two years earlier when she learned I was sick. After Dawn's intervention that summer, I no longer felt wanted. I started looking for a place of my own.

Unlike Dawn McSweeney, I have not been given the gift of a brain that can separate one part of me from another. I am completely aware of everything all the time. I am haunted by my imperfection, the way disease and age have ravaged my body, by the mistakes of my youth, my failure to be kind enough to others. My nights are filled with longing for those I have loved and lost. And, day and night, I think about the horrible damage Dawn McSweeney did to my parents and the rest of our family by her lies and her greed.

I have to fight the tears when I think of the years my mother and father lost with all their children and grandchildren because Dawn tore our family apart. She stole everything of value that we had and she turned us against each other. My parents went to their graves without knowing the truth. Those injuries can never be healed. How tragic and ironic that the only person my mother trusted was the thief who would destroy us.

When Dawn was young, she was afraid to go into the basement of her home in Pierrefonds because she said she heard ghosts there. Is she still haunted?

I have never had the gift of seeing or hearing the departed, but I wonder if my mother knows now what Dawn did to us and whether she visits Dawn at night. If the departed know the truth and they do visit, I pray my mother will finally persuade Dawn to return everything she stole and confess. Then, and only then will I stop telling the world about the crimes of Dawn McSweeney.

Anyone may be in danger from police officers who are out of control. The underlying problem is that the "blue line" stands behind even the worst policemen. There must be decent people on our police forces. Are they so afraid of losing their jobs that they will not stand up and tell the truth? Are they so afraid of being shunned, excluded, fired, demoted - or worse ? Is there none who have the integrity, the moral fibre, the courage, to speak out against the abusers?

I am a 74 year old widow fighting cancer. And I and my family are crime victims. I was attacked in my home in Montreal on October 7, 1996 when I was 60 years old and recovering from my first bout with cancer. I called 911 for help.

The Montreal Police who answered my call helped the thief instead. Since that day, I have been fighting for justice against the thief, Dawn McSweeney. But the cover-up continues.

AN EYE FOR AN EYE ? DAWN AND ALEX HAVE NO FEAR OF THE POLICE

In western society, criminals get away with all sorts of crimes. A proverbial "slap on the wrist" is the usual legal response to even the most heinous crimes.

Criminals laugh at the police and mock their victims openly. In my case, one of Dawn McSweeney's "partners in crime", Alex Lavergne, aka "The Ink". has had no hesitation about posting hate messages on my blogs, confident that the Montreal Police will do absolutely nothing about it. This is clearly based on the fact that the Montreal Police have repeatedly refused to take any action against Dawn McSweeney and the "partners in crime" in spite of the substantial, material evidence that I have presented to them.

On the other hand, Sharia law in the middle east has often demonstrated a cruel and brutal response to crimes, even those that western society might regard as trivial.

Canadians really have to get serious about changing our own laws to ensure that the punishment fits the crime without lowering society to a physical "eye for an eye".

My family has suffered day and night for more than thirteen years as a direct result of the crimes of Dawn McSweeney and her self-proclaimed "partners in crime." - and the complicity of the Montreal Police.

True justice requires that Dawn McSweeney receive a jail sentence that is appropriate for the terrible damage she has done to our family.

As a direct result of the robbery, our family was torn apart and the crime sent my parents to their graves after they were separated from their children and grandchildren for years by what Dawn McSweeney did. The suffering of the victims must be a major factor in deciding the sentencing of a criminal.

But under Canadian law today, Dawn McSweeney can continue to enjoy all the benefits of everything she stole. Today, she is writing poetry, practicing as a "yoga guru" in Montreal and she is about to embark on the study of Sanskrit. She can walk freely among civilized people without fear of the Montreal Police. They have been her accomplices from the moment I was attacked and I called 911 for help.

The Montreal Police I called to rescue me - helped the thief instead. And since then, the Montreal Police have continued to cover-up these crimes.

The governments of Montreal, Quebec and Canada refuse to do anything for Dawn McSweeney's victims who continue to suffer as a direct result of her malicious crimes.

Saudi Arabia urged not to paralyze man as retribution punishment

(CNN) -- Amnesty International on Friday urged Saudi Arabian authorities not to paralyze a man as punishment for his having paralyzed someone else, allegedly during a fight.

The Saudi newspaper Okaz reported that the judge in the case had sent letters to several hospitals in Saudi Arabia asking if they could sever a man's spinal cord, as the man he allegedly stabbed had requested and, under sharia law, was his right to seek.

But such a punishment would amount "to nothing less than torture," said Hassiba Hadj Sahraoui, acting director of the organization's Middle East and North Africa Programme. "While those guilty of a crime should be held accountable, intentionally paralyzing a man in this way would constitute torture, and be a breach of its international human rights obligations."

The paralyzed man, 22-year-old Abdul-Aziz al-Mitairy, told Okaz that the accused stabbed him in the back with a large knife during a fight more than two years ago. "The accused confessed to the crime in front of police, resulting in a general sentence of seven months," he told the newspaper.

During that time, the court in the northwest province of Tabuk debated how to carry out the surgery the paralyzed man was seeking as punishment for his alleged attacker, news reports said.

Riyadh's King Faisal Specialist Hospital, one of the kingdom's leading hospitals, responded that, from a medical perspective, it would not be possible for them to cause the injury by performing such surgery, Okaz reported.

But apparently at least one hospital said it would be possible. "According to one report, one hospital said it would be possible to medically administer the injury at the same place on the spinal cord as the damage the man is alleged to have caused his victim using a cleaver, during a fight more than two years ago, causing similar paralysis," Amnesty said in a news release.

It is up to the court to decide whether to impose the paralysis punishment or sentence the man to imprisonment, financial compensation, or flogging, it said.

The alleged attacker, who has not been identified publicly, "was convicted and sentenced following a trial where he was said to have had no legal assistance," Amnesty added.

International human rights law would consider such a sentence to be a violation of the prohibition of torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment and to break the U.N. Convention Against Torture to which Saudi Arabia is a party, Amnesty said. It would also violate the principles of medical ethics adopted by the U.N. General Assembly, it said.

Other sentences of retribution in the kingdom have included eye-gouging, tooth extraction, and death in cases involving murder, it said.

International organizations are not the only ones to protest. Outrage has been expressed by bloggers in Saudi Arabia over the sentence, which underscores the societal struggle in Saudi Arabia between hardliners, who hew to tribal justice, and progressives, who consider such verdicts to be draconian and bad for the country's international image.

The fact that newspapers and bloggers are questioning decisions by courts -- institutions traditionally considered above reproach -- is a relatively recent phenomenon in Saudi Arabia, where other such sentences have captured international attention.

"This case in Saudi Arabia is not the only case of its kind," said Akbar Ahmed, a former commissioner of justice in Pakistan who is chairman of the department of Islamic Studies at American University in Washington. "We see many cases like this -- stoning or beheading or cutting off hands or feet in Iran, Afghanistan and parts of Pakistan, which are very tribal."

Under Islamic law, compassion is an important virtue for any judge, Ahmed said. "However harsh the punishment would be in tribal law, an eye for an eye, the compassion element that must be exercised by the judge overrides it, and I'm afraid we don't see much of that in cases like this where, very often, the victim becomes twice punished," he added.

On October 7, 1996, at 4995 Prince of Wales, NDG, Montreal, Quebec, Dawn McSweeney robbed me of everything I had worked for all my life and every precious thing left to me by my beloved husband.

I reported the robbery as it was happening when I called 911. The police I called to rescue me turned over everything I owned to my assailant.

From that moment on, Dawn McSweeney and her self-proclaimed "partners in crime" had complete control of everything I owned and the lives of my aged parents and all their property as well.

They took that property when my mother died in June, 2007, after making a new will in her name in 2005 when she was 92 years old. My mother had been kept in total isolation by them for almost a decade - completely cut off from all her children and grandchildren - except for Dawn McSweeney and her "partners in crime."

Montreal Police detectives told me that Dawn McSweeney and her boyfriend Alex Lavergne refused to take a polygraph test.

Were the Montreal Police detectives lying?

I told the Montreal Police from day one that I was ready to take a polygraph test at any time. The police refused me saying they believe me. I am still ready to take a polygraph test.

I provided the Montreal Police with documents, insurance papers, insurance photographs, sales receipts, and detailed descriptions of everything Dawn stole.

But the Montreal Police refuse to take any action against the thief and her associates. Why ? Can it be because the police I called to rescue me, helped the thief instead ?

Make them pay attention to the injustices suffered by crime victims because of bad laws, badly executed by bad cops, and by court systems that allow criminals to escape on technicalities.

WHY IS DAWN MCSWEENEY STILL FREE ?

You have to wonder why Dawn McSweeney and her self-proclaimed "partners in crime" are still free to enjoy everything they stole from me and from my family - why she is still free to walk among law-abiding citizens who have no idea of what she has done or what she is capable of doing. She seems so sweet.

The Montreal Police have all the evidence - documents, appraisals, insurance policies, photographs and a detailed inventory describing every item Dawn McSweeney stole from me.

But the Montreal Police do nothing.

Why is Dawn McSweeney still free? Can it be because a Montreal Police officer helped Dawn and her partners to commit that crime?

I have reported every detail to the Montreal Police and to Member of Parliament, Marlene Jennings, and to every authority I could think of.

By this officer's action and the repeated refusal of the Montreal Police to take any legal action against the criminals, the police opened the door for the partners in crime to keep our mother in total isolation for almost a decade and to make a will in her name when she was 92 years old - a will that stole everything that belonged to my parents - everything our parents had designated in their own wills to go to their children and grandchildren - each by name. It all dropped into the hands of the thieves because of the actions and the failures of the Montreal Police.

These crimes could never have happened if the Montreal Police had pursued the case in an honest fashion. But the police cover-up continues to this day.

And I continue to expose these crimes so that all the world may know what Dawn McSweeney and the Montreal Police have done.

Pamela Fox It amazes me that so many can stand and fight for their right to marry (politicians included), yet you see very few stand and fight for the right to parent their children without government interference, (politicians included). When will our children and their futures be the priority? I ask this not just in California but throughout all nations

IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO RAISE A CHILD: If competent, caring parents have the means to take care of their children without support from anyone else, fine. But look around and see how many people who have children are not competent or do not have the means to provide what is needed by a child to grow up healthy and safe.

Most creatures can give birth, but, unfortunately not everyone who gives birth is competent or caring or financially able to raise a child. Watch the news. In the past few days and weeks, we have heard of several tragic cases of mothers murdering their own children because they just could not cope and could not find anyone who would help.

Yes. We do need government to take an interest and help. We do not need tyrants to decide such things as whether a child in Quebec should be allowed to study in the English language.

There are many issues involved in raising a human being and no one should generalize about the involvement of government. The subject needs very careful study and the public should ensure that children are raised with kindness and provision for a healthy life.

WOMAN ACCUSED OF STABBING HER DAUGHTER IS RELEASED ON BAIL: My Dad - George Rubin of Metropolitan News Agency in Montreal - was a great story teller. He used to tell a story about police coming upon a body: There were several stab wounds, a rope was found around the woman's throat, the body smelled of gasoline, and her legs bore tire tread marks. Police told reporters "Foul play is suspected."

The police just don't get it, and the courts just don't care. Only the victims suffer.

THESE ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD

Who is the Light of the World? If we don't take this to mean God or Jesus, to whom does this attribution refer?

We know what is happening in the world these days at the beginning of the 21st Century. Apart from terrible "natural" disasters, and idiotic man-made disasters, there are wars all over the place and injustice is the rule everywhere - from the little house on the prairie to the capitals of power in every land.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of light around. Every day and every night, I read the heart-breaking stories of survivors of crime and abuse. I never realized how common murder is. In my naivete, I thought it was something largely of fiction, and the exception in the so-called "normal" world.

But I am learning that murder is as common as baseball in the western societies often referred to as the lands of the free. And rape and robbery and hitting and pinching, and lying - Oh! Yes ! Lying. That is the most common commodity on earth. Everyone lies. None of the other crimes could succeed if it weren't for the ever-present dirty lie. It is the drop of poison that all too often determines the outcome of conflict. If only the truth were told and believed. What a different world this would be.

In a time of universal deceit, truth becomes a revolutionary act.

But, back to the point - Who is "The Light of the World? It is not the church. We all know it is not the church. Nor is it any other religion or cult or guru or politician. It is certainly not any movie star glowing in her false eyelashes and little else to cover the form she was born with. It is not the United Nations whose bias has tainted its reputation. Where do we look for the Light of the World?

There is light. It is faint. It flickers. It dims. At times, it sinks below the horizon and we are left in darkness and despair. But I believe there is light, because I have seen it.

I have seen its glow when my friend Aliyah trekked for miles through heavy snow carrying heavy bags full of home-made food to my door when I was sick. I have seen it when my minister, David, sat up past midnight talking with me - listening to me, encouraging me - when I was going through life threatening crisis.

I see that light when my friends, Melissa and Shirley, phone just to see how I am feeling, and when Joodi, who is not well herself, brings me something I need from the store and mails my telephone bill so it won't be overdue and cause me to be cut me off from the world. I see the light when Pat welcomes Alana into her home after that kitchen fire. I see the light when Anne and Georgia let me know that I can call upon them if I need help. They lighten my burden and they do so with love.

I saw the brightest flash of God's light when my oncologist received me without an appointment last April - and saved my life.

I see God's Light every time my friends Carolyn and Alan come to my rescue when I get into one kind of trouble or another - never doubting me, never asking for anything in return, even coming out of bed after midnight to rescue me when my enemies had me arrested in order to try to intimidate, discredit and silence me. A drippy faucet. Child's play. They are here with a wrench. The Light of the World. I would not be alive without them.

The Light of the World. When no one wants to know you, look for who is near with a comforting pat, a hug, a pot of hot soup.

The Light of the World. When your enemies send hate mail and write bizarre and threatening messages on your blog, call Leslie, and he will accompany you to the police station to file your complaint - because the Montreal Police would not accept your complaint when you went to the station, a woman alone. Leslie is a really tall and handsome light, and the constable was overwhelmed and shamed by his glow.

When I was a young girl, I wanted to have a party. I had heard that young people had parties and they were fun. I wanted to have cake and ice cream and balloons, like I had seen in the movies - and nice music - and I wanted to wear a pretty dress, preferably pink. I wanted to invite friends

My mother taught me something important then. The kinds of people who come for parties are "cake eaters". Friends come when you have no cake. They are the Light of the World.

There are people who are the true Light of the World. They are often quiet but they are not timid. They are not the whiners and petty complainers who say, "What's the use? We can never win anyway, so why bother? " Those people are not the light. They are another sad burden responsible people have to carry.

The Light of the World are those who know things are really tough. They know how hard it is to gain a step against the storm of injustice. They know that we will be hurt again and again and that, even those we think of as friends will turn against us, ignore us, tire of us. But they know that we have to do what is right anyway.

The Light of the World emanates from those who will do what is right - not for rewards in heaven or on earth - but just because it is right. And even though it seems all is darkness, those who are the true Light, see the light and will not be deterred from bringing the light into the darkness.
