HOME GROWN NAZIS - IS THIS WHAT OUR SOLDIERS DIED FOR?

On this day in 1945 the US Army liberated the Nazis' Buchenwald concentration camp -- 2nd only to Auschwitz in terms of Holocaust horrors.
Ilse Koch, wife of the camp commandant, was infamous for her sadism. She often beat prisoners with a riding crop, and made lampshades, book covers, and gloves from the skin of murdered camp residents.
Among the Buchenwald survivors was Elie Wiesel, who would go on to win the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986.
