The US Constitution protects religious freedom, but it does not protect the violation of human rights in the name of religion.

Good for you, girl. It takes courage to step off the edge of the known world. When you are brainwashed from birth, you believe that you want to be abused. It takes a special person to resist what everyone else does and to think for yourself. Remember the people who committed suicide for Jim Jones. And look at the suicide bombers.

Criminals can get away with rape and even murder because our laws - Canada and the U.S. - protect criminals, not victims.
We have to press hard for changes to our laws. While it is important to protect freedom of religion, our laws are so wimpy that anyone can create a "religion" and do what Warren Jeffs did .... rape dozens of little girls while pretending to lead them to Jesus.
Furthermore, even after criminals are imprisoned, as Jeffs has been, they are free to spread their poison - whether it be drugs or dangerous communications to their followers. Even behind bars, they can kill. What does that say about our laws? No one is safe because our laws are so bad.
