MCGILL UNIVERSITY ACCUSED OF ANTISEMITISM

Here is one point of view.

Call to action: McGill has issued a report which whitewashes the currents of antisemitism running through the university. Please contact McGill principal Suzanne Fortier by email suzanne.fortier@mcgill.ca, telephone 514-398-4180 or share your thoughts on McGill's Facebook http://bit.ly/2l7kdqp or Twitter http://bit.ly/2kjsk3j accounts.

On October 23ed , the Students' Society of McGill University (SSMU) voted to prevent the reelection of three students. One of the students, Noah Lew claimed that the decision was based on the fact that he was Jewish, that he opposed the calls to boycott Israel and that he is affiliated with Jewish organizations who support Israel.

McGill decided to investigate this claim and shared its report in which it was determined that the SSMU decision was not antisemitic at all, simply "anti-Zionist". The report seems to have been meticulously prepared and is based on interviews of many McGill students but it totally missed the point: That anti-Zionism is, unfortunately, related to antisemitism on campus since it pits would-be boycotters against Jewish students who support Israel. The motion to boycott Israel was rejected by McGill back in 2016 and then again in 2017.

The author of the report, Spencer Broudreau, even acknowledged that, following the October 23ed vote, Democratize SSMU shared content which was definitely antisemetic in nature and that the content was subsequently deleted.

Fortier claims that the report cleans McGill of any suspicions of antisemitism but it seems quite obvious that, at best, McGill didn't clean up the university from antisemitism, only white-washed it. Please contact her and call to reinvestigate this issue.

To be a Jew is not the same as being a Zionist.

Right now, the government of Israel represents the extreme right wing ultra orthodox citizens of Israel. Netanyahu is selling Israel's soul to Donald Trump.

Netanyahu does not represent me. I am a Jewish Canadian and my creed is always JUSTICE. That means justice for EVERYONE, not only for Jewish people, but for all people.

We must not let fear rule our actions. As Jews, we must be ethical and caring without being weak. We must not allow ourselves to be forced into any "camp".

We must speak out for JUSTICE.

We must join with decent people everywhere to promote JUSTICE.

There will never be peace for anyone until there is JUSTICE for everyone.
