75 years ago today the world first learned of the horrors of the Holocaust.
A Warsaw newspaper published the story of a young Jew named Emanuel Ringelblum. He'd escaped the Chelmno death camp after burying 1000s of bodies as they were tossed out of "gas vans."
These trucks - in which gas was piped into the back to kill Jews en route to Chelmno - were used to murder some some 300,000 Polish Jews. The killings took place on public streets, silent and invisible.
All at once, the West understood that Hitler's Nazi regime was intent on a mass slaughter of the Jews. The news of a vast genocide unknown to man spread like wildfire.
AND THE WORLD DID NOTHING WHILE MILLIONS OF HUMAN BEINGS WERE SLAUGHTERED.
