SANCTUARY IN MONTREAL - BUT CAN OUR HOSPITALS BEAR THE BURDEN?

SANCTUARY CITIES (Montreal, CANADA)
'Montreal city council passed a motion Monday making it the latest Canadian jurisdiction to declare itself a "sanctuary city" for non-status immigrants.
The designation means undocumented refugees will have full access to local services regardless of their situation, with the city following in the footsteps of Toronto, Hamilton and London, Ont.'
Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre told reporters he felt compelled to act because of events south of the border.

Phyllis Carter - OUR HOSPITALS ARE OVERLOADED. THERE ARE LONG WAITING LISTS TO SEE G.P.'S, SPECIALISTS. MONTHS OF WAITING FOR SURGERY.

LAST YEAR MORE THAN 200 PATIENTS DIED IN QUEBEC BECAUSE THEIR TREATMENTS OR SURGERIES WERE DELAYED TOO LONG. THAT IS 200 FAMILIES BEREFT OF MOTHERS, SONS, DAUGHTERS, SISTERS, BROTHERS.

YES. WE MUST BE KIND TO PEOPLE IN DISTRESS, BUT CAN OUR SYSTEMS HANDLE THE BURDEN WITHOUT MORE PEOPLE DYING FOR IT?

THE QUEBEC GOVERNMENT KEEPS CUTTING HOSPITAL FUNDING. PEOPLE DIE. BUT PEOPLE ARE JUST STATISTICS TO POLITICIANS. IS QUEBEC READY TO DIP INTO THE POT OF TAXPAYERS' MONEY AND PROVIDE FOR SICK PEOPLE?
