THE POWER OF ONE WOMAN - MANJU OF INDIA
Manju is an Anganwadi Worker (AWW), a person selected by her community to care for pregnant women and children up to age 5. In this role, she mobilizes her community to bring their children for routine immunizations, counsels pregnant women and new mothers about breastfeeding, the importance of vaccinations, hand-washing, and other basic health needs. She also runs a day care center (the Anagwadi Center) for young children in the community, providing basic education and lunch. — Manju in India (11 photos)
