Trump's sabotage of our health care system is hurting Americans. About 4 million working Americans have lost health insurance since 2016 - this is outrageous. Although no states saw improvement in their uninsured rates last year, 17 states saw their uninsured rates rise significantly - the first time since the full implementation of the Affordable Care Act that any state had a rate increase. ⠀
Trump's sabotage has taken many forms from attacking the individual mandate to failing to adequately advertise the exchanges. As a result uninsured rates are going up, and so are premiums! In fact, a recent study by the Urban Institute found that by eliminating the individual mandate penalty (which Trump signed into law with the GOP tax bill last year) and expanding short term, limited policies would increase 2019 insurance premiums 18.2% on average in the 43 states that have these short term plans.
This is hurting millions of Americans, putting us at risk of having no insurance and raising costs for so so many.
Please, let your voice be heard on this issue. And in November vote for candidates that will work to expand coverage and keep costs down.
Let's be clear: President Trump's proactive sabotage campaign to disrupt our health care system is causing these uninsured rates to climb. We need to continue to call out this administration, and demand that we move toward a Medicare for all, single payer health care system.
