RICK PERRY'S AMERICA - BRING OUT THE SEWING MACHINE, DAD

Republican Presidential candidate Rick Perry says "faith" must be brought into government. No more separation of church and state.

Since Perry is a devout Christian, a man of faith, the loving faith of Jesus Christ, will his administration generously include people of faiths other than his own?

Will the Government of the United States of America also include Jewish members of congress, judges, justices of the Supreme Court?

What about those Muslims who want Shariah law?

Would Hindu people be allowed to serve in government?

Or does Perry mean that the government of the United States should accept, honour and protect only people of his own religion?

In that case, would that include Catholics, Mormons, Pentecostals, Lutherans, Seventh Day Adventists ? Unitarians ? Or only his own sect?

God help America if someone like Rick Perry ever gained a position of authority.

The next step would be that Jewish people would have to wear a Star of David badge on their sleeve.

Bring out the sewing machine, Dad. Here we go again !

In 1779, Thomas Jefferson was concerned about the power of the Church of England within Virginia. He felt a guarantee of religious freedom was the best guarantee that America would avoid the religious intolerance and religiously inspired bloodshed that had marked much of the history of Europe. He wrote an Act for Establishing Religious Freedom; after a long battle, it became law in Virginia on 1786-JAN-16. The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution was based in part on that act.

Thomas Jefferson, as president, wrote a letter to the Danbury Baptist Association of Connecticut on 1802-JAN-1. It contains the first known reference to the "wall of separation". The essay states in part:

"...I contemplate with solemn reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between Church and State..."

DR. OZ SAVES A LIFE IN MONTREAL

 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Dr_Oz_(cropped).png
           Mehmet Oz

The long hours I spend in hospital waiting for tests and treatments are never wasted. I go to my appointments expecting to wait and wait. There is a bonus to being there. I meet so many interesting people, and because we are all waiting side by side, we get to talking ... sometimes even singing, to ease the boredom and anxiety. As a journalist and a social activist, I garner so much information this way and I sometimes make new friends.

On October 6, 2011, I met Gail who was at a clinic with her husband, the patient. And through the following hours, she revealed her experience.

Gail is a fan of the Dr. Oz TV show. The topics discussed on that program are often unpleasant, but in this case the unpleasant subject of stomach functions saved her husband's life.

Gail's husband never wanted to hear about the Dr. Oz show, but when Gail mentioned this episode to him, he stopped in his tracks. Symptoms Gail repeated to her husband hit home.

Gail and her husband went to the clinic of Dr. Carole Vasilevsky at the Hertzl Walk in Centre of the Jewish General Hospital at 5858 Cotes-des-Neiges in Montreal. Tests revealed that Gail's husband had two cancerous tumours in his colon.

The surgery was performed at the Jewish General Hospital using some of the most modern techniques in medicine and the cancers were safely removed.

Dr.Oz and the Jewish General Hospital saved a life in Montreal.

It pays to pay attention.

THE OCCUPATION OF WALL STREET AND BEYOND

Here's hoping that this peaceful protest movement grows all over the western world.

Corruption is rife and this is the first time since the 1960's and Martin Luther King Jr. that so many of the People have stood together and cried,

" We're mad as hell and we're not going to take it anymore ! "

When each of us is suffering an injustice, those who hold power ignore our pleas and do everything possible to discourage us, divert us, delay and discredit us.

Alone, we are lost.

But now that so many individuals have come together to form a Movement for Justice, the most important thing is to keep up the momentum.

Cold weather is coming on fast. Many people will be unable to go out into the streets,

So this is the moment.

Even when the snow flies, the young people must take turns in throngs to keep up the fight for justice - for the poor, for the unemployed, for the under-employed, for the sick, for the handicapped, and for crime victims and victims of abuse - by their spouses, by their employers, by their landlords, by incompetent and corrupt police, by dishonest lawyers and corrupt judges, by the Injustice System that allows and accepts and aids and abets these travesties.

Bravo to the Protesters !
You are the best hope for justice in North America and beyond.

THERE WILL BE NO PEACE WITHOUT JUSTICE
THERE CAN BE NO JUSTICE WITHOUT RESPONSIBILITY

QUEBEC FLUSHING CANCER PATIENTS DOWN THE TOILET

QUEBEC REFUSES TO FUND
VITAL CANCER MEDICATIONS

October 3, 2011

CBC News is reporting that the Quebec Government under Jean Charest and Yves Bolduc is refusing to fund vital cancer drugs because they are too costly.

What are our lives worth in Quebec ?

Other Canadian provinces fund the drugs that Quebec has rejected.

Jean Charest's "Liberal" government is willing to use the taxpayers' money to fund a hockey arena in Quebec City, but it refuses to fund these vital medicines for cancer patients who are fighting for their lives.

This looks like murder for money to me.

LITTLE GIRLS RAPED BY THEIR FATHERS AND GRANDFATHERS WITH HIV

160 GIRLS

WHO ARE THE 160 GIRLS?
In eastern Kenya, 160 girls, all victims of rape, are determined to seek justice. In Kenya, a woman or girl is raped every 30 minutes.  Girls are raped by family members and men in their own communities. Many of the girls are orphans whose parents have died of AIDS. They are vulnerable to abuse from extended family members and from strangers.

Because many men believe that sex with a virgin even a young child - is a cure for HIV/AIDS, these girls are doubly vulnerable.

The 160 girls have received temporary shelter and refuge for 6 weeks after that, they are on their own- and vulnerable.

WHAT IS 160 GIRLS?
The 160 Girls project is a legal initiative that aims to achieve justice and protect against rape for all girls in Kenya. The 160 Girls project will initiate litigation to secure legal remedies ordering the state to enforce existing laws in Kenya to protect girls from sexual violence and to hold rapists accountable.

The project will mobilize the law to secure concrete change for women and girls who currently experience some of the most appalling forms of violence in the world today.

BENEFITS OF 160 GIRLS
If the State enforces its laws, girls will be protected from rape. There will be increased safety and security for girls and more state accountability for the enforcement of existing laws intended to protect women and girls.

Mallick: Canadians Help Fight for 'Defiled' Girls in Kenya

http://www.thestar.com/opinions/columnists/847463--mallick-heather

By Heather Mallick  Star Columnist

In Kenya, the rape of little girls is known legally as defilement. Defiling is common there a woman/girl is raped every 30 minutes but even girl babies as young as three months are helpless meat for men who know theyll never be prosecuted for the worst brutality imaginable.

These child victims are the loneliest girls in the world. They are often orphaned by AIDS and are vulnerable to attacks by their remaining family as well as strangers. The myth that having sex with a virgin is a cure for HIV/AIDS is also a spur, and not just for pedophiles.

But a Canadian lawyer named Fiona Sampson has joined with Kenyan colleagues and politicians at their request in a legal challenge to force the Kenyan government to enforce existing laws against the sexual torture of children.

The project, colloquially known as the 160 Girls case, a venture of Sampsons The Equality Effect organization, has brought together 160 rape victims to fight for protection.

Essentially Sampson is trying for a Kenyan version of what Jane Doe managed when she sued the Toronto Police Department over her rape she was used as unknowing bait for a serial rapist the police were hunting down and the way rape victims are subsequently treated by police and the legal system.

Last week in Toronto, a fundraiser for 160 Girls raised over $100,000 (a good start, but they need more). Its an astonishing amount, especially for a crime that is hard to describe without emotionally scarring the audience.

Flora Terah, a parliamentary candidate in Meru, Kenya, told the audience of Canadian lawyers and activists of her own experience in 2007. She was abducted and taken to her fathers grave for rape. They broke her back, scorched her arms with cigarettes, and forced human feces down her throat.

When Terah was recovering in hospital, she befriended a 3-year-old girl getting reconstructive surgery after her own rape. The child would visit Flora in her hospital bed to enjoy her flowers and chocolate. Then shed change. Shed suddenly climb off Floras bed and bite and scratch any man visiting Flora, thinking that all men are rapists and trying to protect herself and her new lady friend.

Kenyan newspapers regularly report on defilement committed by teachers, police officers and other authority figures. One Kenyan  TV news reported shows tiny Emma, 4, who two years before was raped, beaten and left for dead by her stepfather. Emma doesn'twalk so much as totter like an old woman because of her injuries, which have still basically gone untreated. She is physically and emotionally broken. When she sees a man, she covers her face and weeps. Her stepfather was never arrested.

The crimes, if shown, would harrow the soul and freeze the blood. It makes these lawyers efforts all the more admirable and suited to a profession sometimes seen as rigid and uncaring.

The Equality Effect, partnered with Kenyan human rights lawyers, is seeking a court order that would have the states failure to enforce existing criminal law on rape recognized as sex discrimination.

That failure would violate the states human rights obligations under domestic, regional and international law. Sexual violence is sex discrimination, thats what Sampson and her team are aiming for legally, because the concept could then be extended to other crimes against Kenyan women. Marital rape and adult female genital mutilation are not even considered crimes in Kenya.

Sampsons team is doing infinitely more than what we all want to do: head to Kenya, adopt the stumbling Emma, restore her urinary tract and repair her vaginal mutilation at an excellent Canadian hospital, and hug her for the next decade or so, teach her that men are good, and gleefully watch her turn into a stroppy Canadian teenager.

But that wont help 160 girls or even 11,600, of course. And that is what this ambitious legal challenge aims to do.
