In Montreal, Quebec, Canada - which used to be a thriving, cosmopolitan city, all signs must be in French as the extremists gain power in government and pass one bill after another, suppressing the English language.

On a bus in Ottawa one day in 1993, I was struck by how easily the passengers switched back and forth between English and French. Separatists would choke if they had to admit people are capable of enjoying both languages. It would defeat their justification for hatred and vengeance for historic wrongs. While some people hold to ancient Bible teachings despite centuries of enlightenment, Quebec separatists cling to the battles on the Plains of Abraham.

Of course you are right, Cheryl. I have been speaking on this subject, writing about it since the late 1960's. People who hate and envy are blind to reality, blind to the needs and rights of others, blind to the opportunities they are missing for themselves and their children. They only know hate and greed. At a Convention of the Quebec Liberal Party at the Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City in November, 1971, the secretary on the platform at the plenary session stated in front of all the delegates, "My child will learn English over my dead body." Then she brought the convention to an immediate close and shut up all opposition. We so-called Anglo delegates were few, but vocal, but the powers in the Quebec Liberal Party stifled our free speech and I quit the party there and then. Details at PHYLLIS CARTER'S JOURNAL -
